This was epic work by Rowan Atkinson! Been a Mr Bean fan since about 10 yo and I never saw this work before! I was half crying half laughing,this was amazing! This is where Rowan stands out more than most comedians....he has such a unique physical comedy that everyone seems to love.

Rowan Atkinson is a genius. What a 1992 Time Capsule! It's amazing how single-camera observer mockumentary fly on the wall style comedy has changed everything since then. Arrested Development, The Office. Always Sunny in Philly does not do "yes, and...", but instead it's, "No, but .."

To this day charlie chaplin makes me laugh. I didn't have access to hundreds of tv/radio channels and seeing a new movie was about once or twice a year but sitting in my grandmothers livingroom in my favorite chair by the radiator under the window watching charlie chaplin is one of my fondest memories

Prime example of showing instead of telling. Accurate and trustworthy analysis of comedy done using comedy as medium. As such Ít is also example of unexpected behavior in comedy.

Am I wrong or is the scene at 12:52 cut? If I remember it correctly the guy in this scene doesn't stop punching the other one with the frying pan and the situation changes from pretty brutal to hilariously funny because it's so over the top.

Well it's everything about the acting that there is, if we're not talking about the dialogues and the script. I mean if you could follow just this one documentary, you just need a cameraman, production manager and a script writer of course....... and wallah you can make your own little move. This is called a masterpiece 👏

I agree! I used his Modern Times in a world History class trying to explain the darker side of industrialisation! I broke up my footage into two parts, getting my class to concentrate first on a scene of accelerated conveyor belts, and the second on....you'll get what I mean!

it's not as if, though, there wasn't comedy with crude language and lewd behavior before Chaplin's time, Aristophanes comedies are infested with that kind of comedy. talking about key elements here.
