Just to add, I always keep the washer door open for a day after laundry is done to prevent bacteria and mold from growing.

Me too! Most people don't get it and they rather buy all kinds of perfumed stuff (softener, laundry perfume,...) to mask the smell instead of keeping their machine clean. 🤢

Same here. I open the door wide while the clothes are drying, then after I've removed them from the dryer I close the washer door until it is slightly ajar. The only time it is completely closed is when it is running.

Got a new washer/dryer set and reading through the manual (yes, I am that person) I saw they recommend leaving the washer door or lid open for a day to let it thoroughly dry out to prevent mildew growing in the machine. Our last machines lasted 27 years and I plan to get at least 20 out of these. Cleaning and airing the machines just as regular maintenance are what the dealer said made them last so long. Think of it like cleaning your shower or tub; dirt, body oils, and soap scum need to be cleaned off of both. Great video! Love seeing your baby's artwork framed on the wall. :)

I would prefer to have someone do my dishes. I don't like doing laundry, but laundry is personal. Having your daughter's artwork in the laundry room must make you smile.

Old school steam dryer - very damp towel with items to be steamed. This usually generates enough steam to refresh things. Not efficient, but handy.

I keep water in a spray bottle near my cellar laundry (no sink). I will spray a facecloth and toss it in with any dry but wrinkly clothes.

Yes, always wash new clothes before wearing! I love doing laundry, I mean, how hard is it? You throw your items into one machine, then put them in another and then hang them up. We don't have to scrub them on a rock, then put them through the ringer and then hang to dry!!! Love Rileys pic😁 I am not finding info on your fav fabric rinse. Can you let me know? Thx

Yes I always wash new stuff before using it. I would choose to have someone sweep, mop and vacuum my floors. I don’t mind laundry or dishes. ❤❤ Love the channel, TY for the excellent laundry tips.

Go Riley!! 💙 I'm fine with dishes or laundry. Ever since i started doing one load a day years ago never had a problem. Dishes are like giving your silverware and spoons a bath. Just give me hot sudsy water, some music and I'm good. Now if you don't rinse your stuff first we have a problem! I like clean dish water!

I ALWAYS wash new clothes, sheets, towels (anything fabric!) before using/wearing, for sure! And, hands down I would LOVE for someone to do my laundry, because I can't stand it!😝 I actually don't mind doing dishes, it's kind of relaxing and therapeutic for me. 😁

Love the artwork! For me I don't mind dishes or laundry, what I hate is putting them away! It's super easy if you have a dishwasher to just, ya know, load the dishes. I just hate how long it takes to put both the dishes away and to fold and put laundry away. Now, if we're handwashing dishes, or laundry, I'll do laundry all day long!

12:40 Thanks Melissa for reminding this. I used to see launders in my hometown ( back in India) at my grandparents place do this during my childhood. Never realized its importance. But, most of the clothes never needed ironing and thanks to the sun, felt crisp and fresh.

I love doing the laundry. It's easy. Sort, spot, wash, dry, fold, and put away. Everything comes out nice, soft, warm, and clean. ❤

I love the extra rinse cycle on my he washer. And I also love how well my he machine spins my laundry. Practically dry. Actually neither. I would rather just do my own laundry and dishes. I’m kinda picky. As always nice to see you. Thanks for the video 😊

I delay start my washer every night (with that day's clothing from everyone in the house) to run at 6 am. Then, when I get home from dropping the kids at school in the morning, I switch to dryer and fold around lunchtime. I am always washing yesterday's clothing today. Game changer!

I generally wash new clothes before I wear them, always under garments. I love my delayed wash cycle, for the reasons you stated😀Didn't know I shouldn't use wool dryer balls for all items. I use to hate doing my dishes. Now it's my laundry instead. That's the task that I wish someone else would do. I learned so much in this video! Thanks!!

Thanks for mentioning the use of a delicates bag for socks. This trick can also be used for other items if you happen to hang clothes to dry. It's ALWAYS easier to hang clothes after sorting like-with-like, so having this already done in a delicates bag saves a lot of time later--think small items like socks, underwear, washcloths, even hand towels. The idea is to SORT before you wash. If you sort as you add to the dirty laundry, then it's already done. It may seem like an odd trick at first, but I never have to look for small items in the wash. It's great!

I’m in the UK and since I became medically blind both laundry and washing up became a bit hit and miss… so I automatically add stain remover to my whites (underwear), all my trousers/ T-shirts are the same types of fabric/ colours (trousers are all dark colours, T-shirts are medium depth colour and since sighted people can’t see me coming I’m replacing older T-shirts (mostly green) with bright colours (bright orange/ pink)- though how they can’t see a white cane that’s almost as tall as I 🤷‍♀️… and I bought a small “table top” dishwasher to stop finding I’d missed a bit when I’d washed up. Bonus being washing up is almost fun now- and matching outfits is a lot easier because any T-shirt an trousers combination works. And I can remain independent

I have a large laundry room with a glass pocket door. Above the door I have a ledge shelf with my 3 kids art projects of trinkets (not paper). They are now 27 (married), 25 (doing residency in city), and 19 (away at school). Lol. I guess they’ll slowly be replaced with my future grandchildren’s artwork.

I do use the extra spin cycle for comforters etc, yes - wish I had a timer on the washer to soak for a bit but I can set a timer ⏲️ wow dryer balls decreases static? Oh I am gonna look for them! I started the periodic vinegar solution for my t-shirts - thank you for the sweat on t-shirts advice 👍🏼oh geez love the missing sock solution - I suffer through both dishes and laundry with equal non-existent enthusiasm 😂 I like clean 👍🏼

Riley's (I apologize for the spelling.) Picture is nicely done. I thought I remembered a rainbow picture in the background earlier too. Maybe I watch too much youtube. 😂 Thank you for the laundry tips. I definitely need to double spin my clothes/towels. Our machine is very old and in need of replacing but we are squeezing all the life we can out of it. 😂😂

The quick wash function is the only one I use, who has time for a three hour wash and besides that would put up my power bill. but i did take your advice once washing my bed sheets on the highest setting I think 90 degrees and my power bill went through the roof omg. So from now on quick wash 28 minutes cold water and hang on the old hills hoist in the sun to dry simple.
