This song always reminds me of my mother. She had a pretty hard life, 2 divorces one from an abusive alcoholic, raised 4 kids, and died at 42 of cancer. But on occasion this song would play on the radio and she'd forget her worries for just a moment and sing it like Laura Brangahan herself. My best memories was when I was in college and we went to 2 weddings within 2 years and we danced to this practically clearing that dance floor. I just remember her wide smile and how happy she was in the moment. After the 2nd wedding, she was gone by the following year, but before she went I played this for her in the hospital and tho she couldn't sing, she flashed that signature smile. This song will forever and always be her song to me.

Laura changed the lyrics to be about an absolute lunatic of which she can't get the story straight. Read the lyrics. It's like 'what?'. Too bad you didn't pick up on my self control line.

Love this womans voice. What a natural beauty and a refreshing all American girl. Looks like the girl next door. She was real and genuine. Did it so effortlessly. Did anybody else notice the irony of her putting her hand to her head a number of times. As she passed from a Cerebral Aneurysm, I find this haunting.

This song played during my grandma's wake. I wasn't expecting it but it was apparently her favorite song (i never knew that) and as I stared at her face in the casket with teary eyes as this song played in the background I couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. Now this song has a completely different meaning for every time I play it.

Yes, I was just shocked to learn this myself. I recently bought her Platinum Collection. She died of an undiagnosed brain aneurism. If you have a headache that lasts more than a couple days, go to the emergency room. She did 'Power of Love' before Celine made it a hit. I love her version. RIP Laura.

I remember when this was released. It was the summer I helped my Dad paint and repair the upstairs restrooms in the Middle School, where he worked maintenance. I was twelve, I think, at the time. I loved being able to spend time with him, as he was always working. He slipped a total of three discs in his back over the years, working hard to be noticed by management wherever he would work, so he'd be offered extra shifts and/or promotion to make more money to support the family. I prefer to remember fixing the school bathrooms with him to when I found him dead on the kitchen floor last year.

@@Haley._213 She passed in August 2006 if my memory serves me right. I believe it was a brain aneurysm as she was complaining of horrible headaches and she went to sleep. She passed in her sleep... :-(

As a young man in the early 80’s, I loved this song. I loved it even more when I got a look at the woman who was singing it. I was absolutely dazzled by Laura Branigan’s beauty. I was so sad when I heard she died in her early 50’s. It will be a death that bothers me the rest of my days. Thanks for making a good time in my life even better. RIP Laura.
