1978, The first time I saw her, I was 32 years old and deployed in Germany. She was on German tv. All the duds went crazy, Laura Branigan, young and beautifull and an amazing voice. 1985 juli 11th, remembered the day, it was our 15th wedding ann, me and my wife experienced her concert at the Six Flags Jackson, New Jersey . Wow, what a performance. She grew older but even more atractive to watch and still that powerful voice. Her skills on the piano and the rendition of The Power Of Love make my wife grab her tissues. 1990, Atlantic City, I witnessed the best performance ever from Laura Branigan but without my wife, she passed away a year ago. With her emotional Power of Love on stage this time it was me searching for tissues. 2004. RIP Laura Brannigan. Forget Madonna, Beyonce and all those other clods. You outcast them all with your talent. 2020. I’m 74 yrs old now but still get my eyes wet watching your vids and remembering my wife.

Céline, Jennifer and Laura all had incredibly strong versions of this song. What I love about Laura’s version is the slight raspiness to her voice and the immense emotion that she brings. There’s a slightly rockier feel to it, yet she nails every note with complete precision. Amazing.

Laura started with Key G and shift to G# and taking all the souls of her fans with jaw dropping notes. Jennifer Rush's music video version was sang with Key A it was really good one I think, except her movement with the music was a little funny or she may shy with camera. Her six minutes album version was awesome and that's why "The Power Of Love" is the becoming the textbook of how to sing a song with heart and soul. And she is also the song writer and she is the boss. But album version was sang with Ab key. I don't really like Celine Dion version as I was already mesmerized by Laura and Jennifer and feel like Celine is so fake in this song.

Actually, that information is wrong. They had to make a correction of her obituary because there were several things wrong with the facts. She was 52 when she died, not 47. She also is best described as having grown up in Armonk, New York, and not Brewster, as the AP's original obituary said.

She had a great voice . She died in her sleep at her lodge in East Quogue, New York, on August 26, 2004. The cause was attributed to a previously undiagnosed ventricular brain aneurysm. a great singer , i will never forget........ rip.

I grew up with this song since i was young and many attempted to duplicate this song but for me this is the best version of this song. been listened to it.remeber when it was released. Not a patch on Laura's version y a LONG shot, even if she did write it! Many people do not prefer the originals. Take Whitney Houston's version of I Will Zlways Love You. In my opinion she ruined it with her marbles, but for many they consider it the definitive version. I believe even Dolly Parton likes it.

This performance is far better than the entire clown show known as music industry today! She doesn't need to expose her body and shake it to earn popularity and respect! She has done it with the main talent a singer has to have which is her voice! One of the greatest songs I have ever heard! Rest in peace, Laura!

Rest in Peace indeed. However, there is a more powerful voice, one that is unmatched, her name: Floor Jansen, lead singer of Nightwish. Fans who know her, call the ending of her songs, a Floorgasm. Anyway, no other singer can compete with Floor. Laura was great, but Floor has her, and everyone else, beat.

@ho ber This is not a competition of who sings better as most people feel the need to fixate on, but instead it is just recognizing a woman who has an amazing voice. I’m aware of the original version by Jennifer Rush as well as the cover done by Celine Dion which also was beautifully done. Maybe we should just appreciate talent.

I recall her interview when she described this song and at least one other that blasts to her mind hitting all high or low notes and was an overwheming personal feeling. In the 1980s I loved her songs and voice on car radio, but never saw her other than still photos. After 2010 til now when her old videos finally hit my internet. Wow, she will now show me what a talent she was. Just a 78 year old belated fan.

Oh yes , that raspie voice so sensual. I must tell you all these years after her death I still grieve. Such a beautiful women . I’ve seen her in interviews I want to hug her .concerts with that earth shattering voice . A true artist/performer ……. I guess I love her …. It’s the power of love!
