Thank you for sharing this experience! To be honest for me coffee beans were always, open the bag, fill it in the machine and enjoy. To see how much work goes into this i will never see them the same way. I will appreciate way more knowing the amount of work and effort it takes in order for me to have a good cup of coffee every morning.

I am so impressed. Just Wow, laura. You are such a natural. What a good job, you are so relaxed and your delivery is so smooth. To handhold your camera as you delivered your thoughts. I do not use the word "lines" because it is your thoughts not some script. I bitched a bit about your advertisement for the food box because it seemed like you were trying at something. Here you are laura, telling us what you think and feel. This is why you have almost half a mill subscribers at this point. Take us on your trips, take us on vacation, take us touring. We are here to see and hear YOU.

Thanks for bringing us another wonderful, interesting adventure. Maui is beautiful. The Kona coffee is awesome but a bit expensive. Certainly worth splurging once in a while. Another idea for an adventure would be a coffee and pineapple planation in Costa Rica. I am sure Costa Rica would make both Grant and Laura smile.. Costa Rica is a beautiful country.

I love the big island, went there 5 or 6 times a year in my 20's and 30's for scuba diving. I stayed at the King Kam Hotel right in Kona on the water. Beautiful island and fantastic diving and several locations you can shore enter head out 50 yards to a deep shelf drop off, great for deep dives did a few to 150' plus. Oh and the food was WOW, with great coffee. Thanks for the memories.

Laura, this is another example of an exceptional inspirational and educational video that you’ve created. I say inspirational because you have the natural passion for the information that you deliver. As adults, we hope and pray that kids get a chance to see some of your videos and “get the bug” to go on to grow the food and resources for our nation’s future. Yes, it is truly THAT important!!! P.S.- I hate coffee personally, but I just learned so much about it and was intrigued the entire time. That’s your gift!!!

I spent three years on the Big Isle back in the mid-eighties. One of my jobs was hauling planting mix (a blend of the very thin and scarce topsoil there, mixed with volcanic cinders). My boss owned several acres of the mixture up around 4,000 feet. I hauled the planting mix down to all of the Macadamia, Coffee and Protea Flower growers all over the Kona Coast. As well as other landscape buyers. I loved it there, perfect weather most of the time and the locals are great people! ( I stayed away from the tourist areas. lol!)

Laura, my friends run Hawaiian Queen Coffee Farm nestled in the hills of Wai'ono Meadows. It's 160 acres located between 1800 and 2000 feet on the slopes of Hualalai on the Big Island. All the coffee farms are there, and all are in the same altitude range on the same side of the mountain to get optimum rainfall. The Kona Coffee Belt they call it. The farm is just outside the village of Hualailai. Be sure to try some Peaberry coffee. Peaberries are the cherries on the tip ends of the branches and make a great cup of coffee. I am so surprised and happy to see you on a coffee farm in Hawaii.

Now you have the coffee bug, you should look into home roasting. It's easy (ish). Or at least get a Technivorm drip coffee maker, which is the only one that brews at the proper temp. Expensive, but I've had mine for 20 years so amortizes cheap. The mark of a good coffee roast is that it is not bitter or sour to drink when it's gotten cold.
