Saw Laura in Cinderella on Broadway. Breaks my heart what she went through. I know she's private, but Laura is so talented and so sweet.

Come out stronger. No real change perhaps without real pain. I learned that much later in life than you did . Be glad you were younger! You are enough. You are a creation of God and you ARE enough.

Might the best way to handle being cancelled be to recognise that if all our sin was shown before us in a way that prevented us from suppressing it WE would believe that we ought to be cancelled? And therefore instead of making much of the moment we are exposed for sin we didn't commit - we could instead in our minds and hearts make the substitution - recognise that our cancellation may as well be for the fact we are sinners - people who no matter righteous have no right to stand before a holy God. I have heard humility described as effortless change of direction. If that's so we should be careful not to make much of how we struggle to accept the events happening to us. To do so is a kind of negative witness - a failure to identify God's sovereign place in what is happening - instead focusing on events as if the devil is the one who rules the world and gets to do whatever he likes (when Job 1 shows he is a dog on a leash - he doesn't get to do a SINGLE THING unless God allows it due to his having no better way to ensure that his best purpose is achieved). There are two kinds of people in the world - those who get to their knees - and those who are pushed to their knees. My scriptural support for that? Philippians 2:10-11 ESV so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. If we choose to get to our knees we will NEVER have to endure being pushed there. We love the half of the gospel in which Jesus dies for us - but this is NOT a complete picture of salvation. It is half of it - the other half of salvation is that we die with Jesus. Therefore the things that are being discussed here aren't from a Christian perspective about being cancelled.- they are from God's perspective about mortification. (This doesn't mean that there is never a time for standing up for what is just in particular circumstances - however the focus of our efforts should be on seeking justice for others - not for ourselves). We should view being cancelled as just ONE of any number of possible opportunitites to accept GOD'S wish that we be led to death in order that we become able to experience his resurrection life. Part of understanding rightly then is not considering mortification humiliation. We should not consider it that because Jesus did not. In Hebrews 12:2 we find out that Jesus SCORNED THE SHAME of the cross. He refused to consider bowing in total obedience to his father as humiliation - how could it be when he was doing what he was doing for his father - and for the sake of all people? We must constrain our hearts to act consistent with the idea that God is worthy of our submission in EVERY imaginable circumstance. Look at the first disciples as an example of this - in Acts 5:41 we find out that after they get flogged they go away REJOICING THAT THEY WERE CONSIDERED WORTHY OF SUFFERING DISGRACE FOR THE NAME. The bible is constantly showing us what the standard is. If we don't have the godly desire to repent we are able to turn to God in faith - this enables him to be united with us - that unity IS godly desire. In the light of things that I have explained here I am looking forward to the day that Laura Osnes and her husband return to New York. I believe the people there will benefit from being shown - in a way that isn't in even slightly qualified - that to become nothing before God is nothing less than he deserves.

Appreciate the thoughtful words. The entire book of Job is Job lamenting about the misfortunes that befell him - that he couldn't understand and never would fully in this life. Your attitude is the correct one to have. However, unless you've been through it, it might be easy to suggest, harder to do. The pain has to be worked out and, in fact, is useful in making us who God wants us to become... I suspect Laura will continue to work through this and be even more useful to God on the other side!

Hi Brett, Thanks for your reply. The book of Job shows that it is not wrong to grieve - in fact it might be NECESSARY to do so - nor wrong to wish that things that are happening to us weren't happening. That's normal behaviour - not sinful behaviour. However we cross the line to self-righteousness if we respond as if such events are outside God's sovereign control - and therefore focus on those who wrong us instead of turning to God. We may not all have been cancelled - but the verses below show that all of the following things - mortification, being hated, suffering, being persecuted - are part of EVERY faithful Christian’s life. mortification Romans 6:6 ESV We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. being hated John 15:18 ESV If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you suffering Phil 1:29 ESV For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake persecuted 2 Tim 3:12 ESV Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, Since this is the experience of EVERY faithful Christian I believe it is not helpful for Laura or other believers to be offered a platform while experiencing these things. For the same reason that it’s not helpful for a person who is praying to do it in public instead of in private. Providing a person a platform at such times may also - depending on how it is couched - have the effect of changing people's impression of what the normal Christian life is like.

I think Ms. Osnes is a very talented performed and a beautiful singer...and am saddened that she has been "cancelled" out of the theatre, I cannot imagine for long, due to being "woke".....I am woke, though that is simply a new term for a very old way of thinking, as it has been happening for millenia all over...and it is now, differently, coming from the other side of the aisle, so to speak. For years, in the US, it was the other way, with McCarthy trying to cancel out every person who was in that industry and had any far left leaning politics....and in that case, it was all politics as there was nothing odd, in the 50s, happening. Now, we find ourselves in the post Trump years, and he didvided us so much that we had an insurrection and continue to fight about it/him, what would happen..."If"....and we had Covid, which scared the world into hibernation. I don't have anything against those who didn't or don't want to be vaccinated, but I hope they know the risks. We know the vaccine does not protect against that virus, but those who are not vaccinated are those dying, today, from that virus. If people have made her feel cancelled out of her industry, then that is not correct and not something that I would do. I, again, remind that it has been usually people who were "different" that were cancelled or trued to be cancelled...again just new words for old actions....whole groups of people just ignored, treated badly...from people of color, Latinos, LGBTQ, etc.....in the US. This is nothing new but the terminology makes it feel new. It will pass, unless T wins again to which we shall be, excuse the tern, screwed..and this is not just Christian, non vaccinated people, but anyone who is not going to adhere to his methodology. I hope she is welcomed back.....and her husband. Trump+Covid= Insanity.
Increíble final 😱
