In Australia it would cost about $120. 6 x $5.50 coffees. 6 x $9 chocolate rolls (more if this means chocolate croissants). 6 x $5 (possibly more if from a nice cafe and not a supermarket) for caprisun drinks. Australia is crazy expensive. And we don’t earn that much😭 But hence our massive homelessness problem that endemic amongst older people and is also now hitting reaching the middle classes and most youth (into their 30s and then 40s now).

@@Rufio1975you, like me didn't have to wait for a man to show you, because many men did things similar to what you did "a little research" for. You had, as simple and overused it seems, many role models. Many women didn't have that in their youth (i.e. women doing these things). Do Laura, Simone Giertz and other women showing DIY here actually help many women to build up the courage or simply acceptance (?) that women are just as capable of doing essentially anything as well or as badly as men. (And just for the record, men doing "female" jobs/hobbies and showing that here or on other social media fulfill pretty much the same purpose, intentionally or not)

I don't know about the prices of coffee and snacks in either place. But I know that you wouldn't have been able to *walk* to the store in LA. Let alone get there, get stuff, and walk back in less than 20 minutes. Yay for walkable towns/cities.

hey laura, i love your content and have been watching your videos for years now. thank you for that :) i have to say that seeing you handle the clay leaves me a little concerned because of the amount of dust you must be breathing in. one ofe my hobbies is pottery and one of the first things i learned was to never breathe in the clay dust due to the dangers for the lungs. people exposed to lots of clay particles can develop silicosis, whis is quite similar to asbestosis and a serious risk for their health. seeing you working with dry clay powders over and over again in the last videos, makes me wish for you (and the others) to wear a mask so badly. i hope this comment helps and you stay healthy and creative 😊

Knowing you are a maker I understand this might not be a topic you would like to tackle but…It has been very cool seeing all these innovative eco products on nearly a new build in Germany. In LA could you feature eco home products but on a pre-existing home? What’s available in the US, what could be done to improve a homes energy efficiency without having the option of starting from scratch?

I live in the same area as Laura, so my guesstimate is: 0,59€/Capri sun (that's what the price tag said), chocolate pastries depend on the kind but would be 0,80-1,60€ (let's meet in the middle at 1,20€) and coffee obviously depends on the kind (and size) but a lot of Germans like to drink their coffee black which would be around 1,80€ at a bakery. Times six equals 21,54€ - to be honest I suspect it was even cheaper since the bakery is located in a village/small town (in Cologne it might me a little more). Oh and we don't tip at bakeries. :-)

I agree with the coffee and pastry (I live in Cologne, where it's a tad more expensive, but if you adjust for this being a bit more rural, it checks out. I can't imagine, they sell Capri sun for 0,59€, though. That's what it costs in a supermarket. I'd guess maybe 1,50€ or something?
@Ecapsora
@Ecapsora Ай бұрын
@@andreibale89in Canada, at our most common coffee shop chain, a Capri Sun would sell for about $2 (1,34€), a small coffee is $3 (2,03€) and pastries are $1 (0,68€). So six of each would be $36 (24,37€), plus sales tax for $40.68 (27,54€). Small, independent coffee shops will charge more because they don't have the bulk buying discounts of a nation-wide company. The prices would be pretty comparable in the US, but LA is one of the most expensive cities in North America, so I could easily see it being $50 (33,85€) for that order over there.

This was my guess too, I was like, so maybe fifty euros? I wonder how much it actually was. That capri sun looked like it was 0.59? They don't sell them individually where I live, but I'd expect them to be priced at like $1.25 lol.

@yomintyfresh

I am guessing: €3.54 for the Capri Suns (because of the sign that they were 59 cents :) ). €9-10 for six Schokobrötchen - they are 59 cents at the Rewe supermarket where I live (51st percentile for living expenses in Germany) but when I was recently in Erlangen, I saw that they were €1.90! at Der Beck, so let's meet in the middle. Coffee is almost impossible to guess, depending on what they drink. At our work cafeteria, all of the coffee is fair trade and we pay €1.40 for an espresso shot, €1.60 for a cappuccino or café au lait (Milchkaffee), or €2.20 for a big café au lait. The chain bakery at the train station charges €1.60 for a shot of espresso, small cappuccino, or small cafe au lait, and €2.00 for a double shot of espresso or large cappuccino. If you eat in at one of the smaller bakeries in town, variations on coffee are €2.60-3.90. The most expensive coffee in my town that I know of is €5.70 for a large, all-organic cappuccino at the place that roasts its beans itself and also sells very expensive espresso machines. In contrast, when I was in the US last fall, I think a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte was $7ish.

Did blown in insulation in our house by myself. There are a few reasons not to do so: - Adding new bales is impossible while you're standing on a ladder - It likes to clog up if you put in too much - Trying to get the pipe in the right place while also looking in other places is not efficient. - Turns out the machine you need to blow it in weighs 75kg and is not recommended to lift by one person. Whelp. Find somebody to help you. Just one person makes it much more doable, two makes it a nice job to do. And wear face masks while blowing it in; it's cellulose but mixed with some chemicals that will totally mess up your head if you don't.

I'm not up on my German idioms, but "Wir rocken die Flocken" sounds pretty geil. Composite structural materials, from Portland cement to Jello and other hide glues, are almost always "measure liquid, measure solids, pour solids into liquid, then stir." Kari Byron had a bit to camera on MythBusters about how complicated the instructions for ballistic gelatin are for something so simple as pour & stir.
