Going to do anything to protect the tires of the tiny house? People who leave RVs in one spot for a long time cover the wheels to protect them from sunlight/UV damage over time.

I think all the organizing you did at Simone’s shop awakened your spring cleaning bug! I am curious what clever tricks you will employ to create an entrance to your new home, or will you just always use the ladder? The advantage of the ladder is it can be pulled into the tiny house like a medieval defense mechanism.

Everything is coming together! One point about your tiny house on wheels, is to take some load off the wheels by putting jack-stands under if possible. The longer of any wheel that stays in one spot, you get flat spots. And to get tire covers to prevent dry rot from UV. Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀

I love how fearlessly Laura reshapes her workspace and home space to suit her needs as they change. Also love how she has a stash of scrap where she can go find a dial that suits her desires.

You should think about stabilizers for the tiny home. The tires are low already. If they get lower or go flat, your house could tip and theres the possibility it could fall over. Potentially while you're in it.

My favorite part about keeping up with Laura’s channel is that it reminds me that even when I’m buried under mishaps or challenges, as long as I keep plugging away at things I will get on the other side of the bad days. Thanks for the reminder Laura and team ❤️

One thing that may or may not work for the small forklift, depends on how strong the lift arm is, and how much the forks are at a locked 90 to the forklift vs lifting up at the tips....when you get the front wheels stuck and you have the ability to lift the front forks straight up, if they are in a locked 90 vs being able to rotate, you may be able to put blocks under the forks and then use that pressing down force to lift the front wheels. That same method can be used on tractors with a front high lift to get the front wheels out of a hole. I agree with the one other comment on the sideways cement blocks and dirt being better for grass that gravel. For longer term parking of the tiny house, you should put it up on blocks/lift stands vs the tires. That is why when they do mobile homes they run them into place on wheels then jack it up to put on blocks. Longer term is can be more stable that way. Fun video to watch in any case.

What I love 💗 is that you decide what recycled objects you want to use, like the Hapag Lloyd tin drawer, then build the frame around them. Most of us don’t get that look because we build a set of shelves, then just put random stuff on them. Great job 👍

Ok, this is super cool. I had a concern though. Maybe put jacks or blocks under your tiny house so that if the tires go flat, the tiny house will not lean or fall over.... Super Geil!

For the "gravel pit", it's not ideal for grass. But if you want to be able drive on it, there are two ways. The old way is to lay a series of concrete blocks with their center holes vertically and fill this with dirt. The other, that is used in commercial settings is a plastic, honeycomb shaped, series of panels that can be used for driveways. At my former job, a builder wanted to use it for the fire alley around a building and we actually got to drive a firetruck on it without any problem. So this stuff is really good.

5:51 It's perfectly OK to be impatient about steam bending; that's why multiple layer lamination was invented. You basically take 3-5 layers of even thinner strips (like veneer thin), glue them up and they will conform to your shapes even better. Leave them long (and perhaps wide) and cut off and plane/sand sides afterwards. Thanks for the vid, congrats on the new tiny house

He was highly educated and liked perfection but he also had a fly by the seat of your pants side that very few people knew (not even his kids) I was lucky enough to know that side of him and I cherish that. You don't NEED steam to bend wood, if the strips are thin enough, glue 2 strips together, and use a 2 part mould to clamp for long enough for glue to set up Alternately bend the glued strips around a large diameter pippe, bucket, pan etc The bend will stay in place while you fix it to the shelf

“If you want to learn the proper way to do stuff…” As a heavy equipment operator (among other disparate trades) of some *cough* years, demonstrating how to use the *back* of a loader bucket to spread, level, and fill gravel, I say you know more than you know you know. :) (yes, it leads to wear on surfaces that aren’t typically fitted with ground engaging replaceable wear components, but with a wheeled or even tracked loader trying to finish grade, I find using the back-edge to simulate the action of a motor grader, using the flat of the bucket to maintain the plane of the grade well worth the extra hours I spend in the shop with the welder.)

I would love to see a staircase build sometime soon. A way to get in and out of your lovely house that isn't a ladder. Lol it would be cool to have one that flips up or under too so you don't have to move it separately. It just comes with the house. ❤

Laura, looks wonderful. The little pull out drawer with the nail head exposed is what I call ‘The Gods Eye’. As a fabric maker there is always a miss step in everything I make. My fabric mentor told me when I was frustrated that my work was not perfect she said “If there is not a ‘Gods Eye’ in your work then you have not created a work.”

It is a very powerful thing - to choose to ignore "what is the proper way" or "how is this usually done", and instead to trust your own knowledge. I get it, waiting for the steam and mostly building a chamber and stuff is exhausting. Just throwing the wood in warm water for 20min works fine too. It did a hole bandlamination chair only with warm water and it works great. My 2cents...

I love the imperfections. I am definitely not anything close to an actual crafter/maker. Pretty much everything I make, I call a "prototype". They're not pretty, but I learn from them and make improvements on the next iteration after using the original for a while.

Your tiny house is so sweet! I’ve always loved the concept of tiny homes. In Canada (BC) tiny home are the super popular. We have in the interior so much open space and people love to be off grid. Buy a piece of property, build a tiny home and you are set. I’d love to see a video on how you set up the shaper to do the finger joints. Your place is amazing! I love what you do!

Have you considered converting another of the long pallets into a small landing and stairs for your door? Maybe you could design and construct it with supports that fold up and a corresponding structure under the trailer where the landing could be stored when the trailer is being moved to another location. Have you considered using a French Cleat system to hang and organize things in your shop. Horizontal slats can be installed on walls at regular intervals and shelves, boxes or other items can be hung or moved as needed. We were wondering why you chose to put your tiny house by what looks like a busy area and not on concrete away from a road ( busy area), mind you you did mention that it was a “temporary” place, which was very confusing, but we guess we will find out later!!! You tiny drawer is perfect as it is,nail and all.

I think it would be really neat to have some concealed lights around the top of the walls that shine up the curve of the ceiling. The house looks so nice!

If you are not patient enough for steam bending, then try with heat alone - apply heat with a heat gun (carefully) while bending the wood slowly to the shape you need 😊

As soon as I saw you using glue for the little drawer I was like, "yes! Let glue dry sign time!", and then you whip out a cute little baby glue sign 😮😍😍 also Felix is wonderful

I know you don't want to waste space with a bathroom, but you may want a toilet for middle of the night runs out just in case you get sick! (Yes, I'm that person!) Love that it's almost done! I say almost, because let's be honest you'll constantly be tinkering with it!

I really appreciate how you save stuff and upcycle. The fact that you've got the different areas/rooms for things is great. You mentioned you didn't have a BBQ. I immediately thought, she's got to have the fixin's to make one... :-D

Nice layout. Wish you had considered site drainage, making a drainage swale or French Drain to take water away (in heavy rain/snow fall) from some of your mini buildings (to a runoff underground catch basin). A little tedious but easy to do. Ground may get water saturated if water isn’t diverted away.
