Hi Laura! The vibe and approach to your wedding sounds very much like ours! We also had a destination wedding (Iceland) which allowed our very close friends and family enjoy a week of travel and time together, with the wedding just one day of a fantastic holiday. We did a joint speech, and it essentially was my husband and I expressing how much everyone there meant to us and to thank them for sharing the week with us. I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. We did nothing traditional - my husband walked down the “aisle” to me! - so just wanted to comment that your confidence in doing what feels right to you will come across in every aspect! And what I liked best was that the pressure of having one perfect day was gone because there is a whole week of opportunities to celebrate with the people you love the most! I would suggest Lapland or somewhere like that in the winter, you can go ice skating, on a sled pulled by dogs, you can there’s an ice bar there in an igloo. Lots to do! And really beautiful in the winter

A big tip for couples getting married, consider doing your photos before the ceremony, that way you can go directly from the ceremony to the venue and be with your guests and they don't have to wait around for hours. And that way the makeup/hair/suit is fresh and looks good and you can calm your nerves before the ceremony. And if you want to take some photos later you can still do that, but without having to spend as much time. 😊

I think it’s traditional to have a bridesmaid or maid-of-honour if the person you’re asking is already married themselves, and a best man. I got married nearly 30 years ago and it was certainly a tradition my husband and I followed 😊 I love the idea of having a website totally curating your wedding, it looks so pretty and it’s so thoughtful to advise those attending what sights and places of interest Lake Como offers. Unsurprising since both yourself and Ollie are both such thoughtful people as shown in all your videos.

I think your plans sounds absolutely idyllic! intimate, cozy and relaxed. Love how your main objective is to have a lovely time with your loved once. Not married myself but the best wedding I've been to was an intimate destination wedding in Spain, loved it! 3 day event and they also had lots of cute get to know each other games since most guests was from different countries. I've been to allot of weddings living in Argentina and it feels like most basically are the same, church then venue with food that then turns in to an all night nightclub event, and although its fun I honestly cant remember whos was whos wedding now.

I love the idea of the team speech and haven't personally seen that done!! It would be perfect for the idyllic setting and garden party feeling.

Definitely traditional to have bridesmaids, maid of honour and grooms men in England. I have never been to a wedding without unless it was at the registry office and I’ve been to about 20! Either way your wedding will be lovely ❤️

So excited for you two!! My husband and I had a destination wedding at the end of 2019 (was one of the lucky brides who finished it all a couple months before the world shut down!!! I feel so awful for all those brides who lost deposits on venues they'd had booked for over a year when 2020 happened.) But it was only 30 guests and we had events planned for three days - welcome dinner, farewell brunch, some axe throwing sprinkled in! LOL - and it was just so relaxing, chill, intimate, cozy, and just overall enjoyable to have a sunny destination and those CLOSEST to you who would travel for it. ♥ I can't wait to see all the content. :)

I can’t wait for the dress video! I have always had a vision of my dress (I’m so single, but girls can dream) and I have never seen it online! Would love to learn more about the process of working with a dress maker ◡̈

I did goodie bags for all of the kids at our wedding. We had a lot of them like 30.. you can create personalized colouring books online and print them yourself, I made search-a-word for the older kids, quiz questions, included some crayons or felt pens, glow sticks, it sounds like a lot of work but it wasn’t. It was totally worth it the time I spent doing them. Yes the bride should do a speech if only to tell everyone thanks for coming! Both of you doing it together is great.

I love the idea of a live painter! Kind of wish I did that for our wedding now as we had a very scenic location with a lake too. We had no entertainment and I’m not sure how necessary it really is. Maybe we were lucky since people hadn’t seen each other for over a year so people seemed happy enough to catch up with each other.

I 100% agree with the stop looking at Pinterest point. When I was planning our wedding I think Pintrest drove me slightly crazy 🖤 xx

In norway we thankfully can get married anywhere. So people can have their ceremonies on top of mountain, in the woods, in the garden and so on. Some of my friends had their ceremony in the groom's parents garden. It was lovely!

Plans sound lovely and very you! We were not big on speeches either, my dad did one and I did thank yous and that was it. As for shoes, I got a pair from the rainbow club, with plans to have them dyed afterwards so can keep wearing them. Have an amazing time.

Sri Lanka would be amazing for a honeymoon! It’s a lot cheaper than traditional safari but you still can see all the animals and get that vibe. If you wanted you could always fly to Maldives for a few days after as it’s super quick! I’ve been to Sri Lanka and it’s such a beautiful place 🤩❤️ your wedding spins so dreamy! xx

The Maldives is beautiful, 7 days was more than enough for me though. It was very quiet on our island. Xx I did an impromptu speech, everyone at the wedding called out for one so I was put on the spot, I was very emotional put it that way.

How lovely. What I would say about having a honeymoon in Italy at that time, is that it can be very busy and hot. Having had my honeymoon in August in Sorrento (on the Amalfi coast) and Rome with a trip to Florence too, I think I would choose to visit those destinations in Spring or at least when it's cooler.There is masses to see and it's definitely not boring but IMO perhaps best seen when it's less crowded.

My wedding dress cost me £150 in material and my friend made it (she is a dress designer so that helped) I went to the bridal shops and it wasn’t a pleasant experience for me. I’m only 4ft 11in and was a size 10 none of the dresses fitted me properly enough to actually see what they would look like. The sales assistance appear to be impatient yet I only tried on 2 dresses I ended up upset. Other bridal shops I went to just didn’t give the help and assistance i think it was because They didn’t really have anything suitable for a shorter bride. Then my friend offered saying she had thought I would have asked her first lol I didn’t want to take advantage of her. She made me the perfect dress

Absolutely agree about the speeches! But I will say, my father-in-law didn’t know we weren’t doing speeches at our wedding and wanted to make a speech but didn’t get to (he’s very eloquent and I would have loved to hear it). HOWEVER, there were a lot of very tipsy wedding party guests that didn’t get to speak and I feel very happy about that 😆

It’s very traditional to have bridesmaids, maid of honour and groomsmen in the UK. I got married in 2019 and had a bridesmaid & groomsmen, my brother was married last year and also had them. I’ve had several friends marry over the past 5 years all with several bridesmaids and groomsmen. It would be unusual not to have them in my opinion. I’ve actually never seen a UK wedding without either. 🥰

I can highly recommend Rainbow Club for your shoes. I wore them from morning till night as a bridesmaid in Croatia and they were so comfortable, even in the heat. They're specially balanced and have cushioning to make them insanely comfortable for weddings and events. I can't understand why more shoes aren't like this as the price point was really reasonable too.

Laura, I find it strange that you think UK weddings don't have adult bridesmaids (eg Pippa Middleton at Kate and William's wedding). It is actually very traditional and in fact it is far less frequent to have pageboys or flower girls. I have never been to a wedding in either the UK or Australia without adult bridesmaids/maid or matron of honour and I have been to many weddings. Groomsmen are definitely more of an American / Australian custom but most Brits have a best man -plus or minus ushers if it is a church wedding. Check out the wedding videos of in the frow, lydia elise millen and fleur de force for example.

It is traditional here in the UK to have bridesmaids and groomsmen too not an American thing (well not just) your wedding sounds beautiful

Do your own makeup. You will feel comfortable and you always look so naturally beautiful in your videos, even when you are covered in DIY dust. I was a hair stylist and did bridal work before I chose to have a career change and now I work for the NHS. Bridal hair can take up some time on the day and may need a practice session before hand. I wouldn't go for anything too complicated. Just be your beautiful self.

Definitely send photos to your Italian florist but be prepared for them to look different. Different countries definitely have different styles and of course different flowers may be available locally.
