I love this, but I think I know why it was cut. It feels much closer to the book in terms of the characters' personalities and interests (i.e., Christine being a little bit rude and way more interested in Jake.) I think that Joe Iconis might have cut this after he and Joe Tracz decided to make the musical a looser adaptation in terms of character.
