Canadian lav-3´s (what the lav 25 is based from) with cage armour took direct hits from Atgms during the Afghan war. While it’s rare yes but it does happen. Now Canada is rocking the updated lav 6 and that thing is a beast

What about armour to protect the Crew

Drop an egg on the hatch it splatters all over the hatch. Put a rocket and bomb on the hatch you unleash hell.

Desert storm, blue on blue situation, one LAV-25 engaged another 25 with their 25mm. Story goes the angled hull deflected the HE rounds fired. Just a story I heard while serving in a LAR unit. The Pig can take a beating that mathmatically would be deemed impossible. I just pray the replacement can take the pounding our LAVs could take.

The only thing it got wrong was the beach landings but it can still do landing off LCACs and swim in flat waters as stated later in the video. Everything else is accurate.

She just needs someone who has served with her, who loves her design and knows her weaknesses and improves upon her design and she could easily be a formidable vehicle in the future

I hate to say it, because the LAV was my home for 4 years, but IMO the M2 Bradley has it beat in these categories except speed

Obviously not.

I was with 1st LAR. Did many months in combat (22 total) including the initial invasion or Iraq. We had Marines “un alived” in multiple different ways. We had one vehicle that hit a mine (buried pile of explosives) that was so large that it threw the vehicle into the air and it landed upside down/on its side. The VC and gunner were caught up in between the vehicles turret cage and the hull. They bled to de@th/were crushed before we could get them out. We had another Marine that was “un alived” from my platoon when an RPG hit square on the LAV-AT hammerhead turret hatch he was standing in… popped up. Even if the hatch was secured… the blast from the warhead punched right through the vision block. With him standing in it… sadly he was cut in half for all intents and purposes. I think of him often. What he would look like now and what might have been if he had lived to go home to his family. The vehicles are amazing and saved my life when our vehicle struck a mine in 2005 North of Al Qaim along the Syrian Iraqi border… they are Great War chariots… but they are not invulnerable. Their main function is exactly what the name of our BN suggests. Reconnaissance. The 25 mm and the AT along with the mortar variants can do a lot of damage but you need to know when to fight and when to use the optics/radio and move.

@@Bruno_bm151 Because rules of engagement say you can not engage troops directly with the .50 only equipment. Also the amount of ammunition of 7.62 you can carry is also taken into consideration.
