I was so excited to get a basement apartment like Laverne and Shirley's. Loved watching people's legs go by and friends could tell me they were at the door by yelling down. Miss that place!

One of my most favorite comedy shows of all times!!!! I got a job doing factory work as a teen and my friend and I pretended we were Laverne and Shirley at the brewery. We had such a good time when we weren't suffering at that job.

You have to consider the generation. For two single women to be out on their own was novel at the time. Women were often less educated and only expected to have domestic skills. Fifty years later, women still find success in dumbing themselves down in mixed company. Paris Hilton, for example. It was endearing in its time.
