A trransgender person's chromosomes do not change; if they were born XY, they remain XY. Nothing to be offended about; it's biology.

A person with complete androgen insensitivity syndrome has XY chromosomes but is still born with a vagina and will develop breasts at puberty. Men with Klinefelter's syndrome have two X chromosomes and feminine physical traits. Women with Turner syndrome only have a single X chromosome, so on genetic sex tests looking for a Barr body (the inactive X chromosome present in XX people) they will have a "male" result. This was actually an issue in sports, where Barr body genetic testing caused women to be unfairly barred from competition. Some people are tetragametic chimeras, the result of embryos fusing together very early in development. If the embryos were different sexes, then those people will be a mosaic of cells. Some will be XX and some XY depending on where the sample was taken from. Biological sex itself is a spectrum. It's insane to think that gender is binary.

Misery Cherub well yes and no. trans folk have been able to use the restroom they identify with for a long time but we are threatened with harassment and certain places like schools create their own policies but technically in most places we can use public restrooms

You see that because you're looking for something to reaffirm your superficial, bigoted idea of what a woman is. Serena Williams, Hillary Swank, Jamie Lee Curtis, Grace Jones are among other cis gendered women who have some of the same features you're talking about. Looks are not the only thing that make a woman. To me Laverne is all woman because she feels like one and embodies the best qualities womanhood - strength, determination, compassion and her beauty is only enhanced by that.

I am blown away by Laverne Cox's intelligence! This woman is very intelligent and very engaged in the LGBTQ Community. God bless her and this show. I am straight, but I do respect everyone else's culture, sexuality and religion. Everybody deserves to have a good quality of life and not be discriminated upon.

That's what makes Laverne a good spokesperson for transgender folks in general. Smart, sensible, beautiful, talented. It's a lot of extra pressure on Laverne, because when you're a visible member of a small group who becomes the group's public face, everything you do and say reflects on all the other people who are "like you."

Hey I'm a regular guy from a regular world and regular town in America whatever that means. As far as I see, let everyone be themselves and respect their right to live freely in any way they want to. Support laws that protect people living free, the only time to act is when a cause or choice infringes OTHER people's rights. This is not one of those times. I support free speech, free voting, freedom for all races all religions all people of every background, all sexuality, AND all people who are transgender trans anything. We are all humans we are all in this life together, freedom and understanding is the key, division and hate is the problem. I say open arms to all who are kind and willing to seek a better future to all human kind. Acceptance is everything. We have to build our reality together, not divided. Division leads to destruction, unity leads towards progress. Simple fact of love, and life. Know your history.
