The Story Of Jay-Z & Roc-A-Fella Records | How Rappers Use The 48 Laws of Power | EP. 2
Roc-A-Fella Records is a label that changed hip-hop history, both from the artists signed to the label to the business moves that they were making which were unprecedented at the time.
The story and relationship between Jay-Z and Dame Dash, two founders of this label, draws very close to a story told in chapter 2 of the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene.
Episode 1: • Law 1: The TRUTH About...

Jay Z did the smart thing. Life is about moving forward and doing everything in your power to make things easier for yourself not harder. Dame Dash is a fool who despite early success was inevitably gonna make life harder for himself and those around him. So absolutely Jay made the right move. Now as a student of history I have to say that we all know that history repeats itself. Dates and time change but human nature will always be the same. Awesome job with these stories and using the 48 laws of power. I truly believe that every man should read the book and keep it in your library

Kanye West was originally signed in the 90s just to make beats. Dame was wearing sneakers once and tossing them shits. Bleek told a story about how he chartered a jet from NY to LA from LA to MIA back to NY in one day spending 1.5 in fuel alone. That's when Bleek said he knew it was over. The worst part of the Roc split was the death of State Property one of my favorite rap groups growing up outside of the Wu and the Lox.

It's one of the 48 laws of power where Dame was trying to outshine the king, and wasn't focusing enough on their main sources of money which was Rocawear and the music. He was getting sloppy and spreading out his forces when he should have kept things tight. When you look at a label like TDE you can see top dawg just lurks in the shadows even though he was already a millionaire before Kendrick and Jay Rock even got signed. He understood anonymity and had no problem letting them shine in the spotlight, he's extremely humble and that's why their label has prospered for so long.

@Napalm Beatz I actually touched on another law of power which is concentrate your forces. He was doing the exact opposite.
@damienwilliams9010
@damienwilliams9010 4 жыл бұрын
And who was the King? Jay Z ? no that makes no sense in this case. The king in the case would be an arrongant ruler who loves and craves attention and want all the shine and admiration. Jay Z never wanted that. So how was he tryna outshine the King? As if Jay was above him. You are off with that analogy. The person doing this video has examples of 48 Laws of Power where the NEVer outshine the king comes into place. notice he never mentions this law in this scenario? Because this AINT that. .you tried tho. but pay attention and maybe read the book so you can understand the laws better.

This video made me see things in a different light too. I believe friendships can survive so long as both people are on the same page in terms of mindset. Most of us simply grow apart, most relationships are not meant to last a lifetime and it is not always due to backstabbing. I see it as growing apart moreso than a betrayal. Also, they were business partners before they were friends. That makes a huge difference. Oprah and Gayle were friends first. Therefore they could afford to never mix that with business.

Real talk i gave Jay-z the Book 48 laws of Power! I saw him by Rockefeller center about to preform H to the Izzo, it was a outside performance, i believe it was for Mtv. I was in the Crowd but close to where he walked by cause i was working for a casting agency as a intern and they had extras for crowd. As he walked by i asked him have he heard of 48 laws of power he said no so i said cool im a get it for you. I always use to go to 40/40 on 25th st 6th ave i believe in Manhattan, since it first open and was cool with Desiree his homie o.g wand wife or lady she a special individual thats a whole diff story. But i brought the book with me one day and he always chilled on the steps v.i.p area before they renovate it. I came to him and he had a big Hawaiian security guard who step to me and had a big thing by his side that was visible but i leave it like that. Im like naw i told J i was gonna get him this book and jay like cool and i gave it to him and i had signed the inside. He said good looking. I saw him a few times different places besides 40/40 and asked him one day i forgot where do he still have the book he said yea its on my bed right now....... that was kinda dope for me as a young man at time.

Jay did what he had to do, I think at the same time he did Dame bold. The company got sold to Def Jam in which he was going to be the president of, making it easier for Jay to get that catalog. Dame was the brains and I feel like that is downplayed today. Without Dame efforts in the beginning idk if there is a Jay Z. On the flip side he didn’t know how to control himself, Jay moves a certain way and once the behavior kept going on for years Jay made his move

Just watched the other Jay & Dame video from Trap Lore and its crazy how people can have 2 different perspectives on a single issue. From jump, this video kinda makes Dame the victim and tbh he was his own biggest enemy. He set the tone to his own demise.
