YES I LOVE THIS CONVERSATION! I loved how you touched on race and other people have looked at you in shock because you weren't what they expected. I get the same look from patients because I'm a petite Asian girl and they all initially see me as a child and not a medical professional. So important to talk about these topics and I love both of your candidness and openness in this conversation!

Thank you France! Sadly a lot of my female Asian colleagues have voiced the same exact complaint you have! It can be so frustrating at times for people to project their biases onto you. This is why representation in our respective fields is so important!

I love y’all. We need more info about being a lawyer. I think so many people don’t have a lot of info about being a lawyer other than they fight for people. I love this! Keep it up! 👏👏👏

This was a fly video. I’m taking LSAT now and this is competitive as well. People say they want to partner but in reality they are measuring themselves against you. Smh I’m going to stay focused and on course until I am a 1L.

This is such a great video! This was not my field of study (psychology degree that I'm not using) nor am I in school but I still find these to be great tips. I'm about to be 40 very soon and going through a period of transition. I'm certain I can still use the information.

While she was binging on your channel (she works in the legal field herself) she said I should check out your channel since you are Jamaican 😉. Very impressive! I think you might be be onto something if you want to pursue legal commentary, especially for minorities. Where ever life takes you, I wish you all the best 🙏.

Hey, how did Desire get a job as a city attorney? I know the process for becoming a prosecutor, public defender, or city attorney may be different. She made me interested in taking that route instead of big law.
@WinenChill

Hi! She interviewed and applied for a summer associate position our 2L year with the Law Department. After working there that summer, she then applied again after graduation. I also know attorneys that work in private practice and then years later go to work for the city's Law Department. So there's a few different paths.

Do you feel that if you not at the top of your class you can still graduate or get a good job? For example, A letter grade D. What happens if you don't pass a class in law school? Do you have to retake the class or get the option to? If you retake the class do they replace the grade or your future job will see both grades.
@WinenChill
@WinenChill 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely think that there are a lot of people that have great post-grad careers that didn't graduate at the top of their class! I graduated in the top top half somewhere I think (honestly I don't remember), all As & Bs for context, and I've done pretty well I'd say in terms of career choice and salary. However, top of class those in the 1-10% (generally straight As) are more likely to secure a job in big law. If you're like me and have no interest in big law then it's fine, but many post grad law school jobs outside of big law will ask for your transcript and grades. Regarding re-taking courses, I'm honestly not sure if law schools allow for that. To my knowledge whatever grade you get in law school is then stuck on your transcript. While grades aren't necessarily an indicator of post law school success, they are still somewhat important.
@chelled8773

@@WinenChill Wow! I would love to get more information about if you can retake it or it stay stuck on your transcript.

In your opinion should someone go to law school in their late 30s?
@WinenChill
@WinenChill 3 жыл бұрын
I think if you know that you 100% want to practice law and have a financial plan to avoid the crazy student loans then it’s a great idea! One of my closest friends in law school was a woman in her mid 30s that wanted a career switch from being a college professor. 💛
