Hi Robbie, got atco balmoral with 6 and 10 blade cylinder (plus verticut/ aerater, latter of which doesn’t do much imo) and would like to get down to 20mm to use 10 blade - hopefully practice my putting. Been spiking, feeding, overseeding and topdressing over past year with fine grass seed to hopefully tolerate closer mowing however not a patch on yours. Looking forward to your tips this year. Cheer.

Hi Robbie, well done on the channel you have me hooked on lawn care as a rookie to it all! Can I aerate my lawn in summer when the ground is harder or is it recommended to do it in spring and autumn when there is more rain? Also have you any recommendations for a product to encourage growth and colour that isn't harmful that I can apply every couple of weeks during summer? Thanks again and keep up the good work

Lol, love it - "Stick arrrounnnd" - David Cameron would describe that as a purr I'm sure. I'm picturing the queen saying it now. "One must stick arrrounnnd" Anyway, my lawn care skills are extremely basic and I only have a cheap 4-setting electric MacAllister mower for my new-build-standard generic lawn, but I've been following the 1/3 rule + high-height cut, and it works a charm. I cut every 4-to-7 days and very occasionally I'll use a nuke-level weedkiller on individual weeds (the surrounding grass crowds out the resultant brown circle quite quickly). This year was the first in several years that I used a general weed-n-feed all over because everyone round here seems to be getting loads of broad-leaved weeds this year. But apart from that it's just long-cuts once/twice a week and everything's working out pretty nicely. Even the cats like it. They keep leaving me presents.

Hi Robbie, I love your lawns and enjoy watching how you make them so beautiful. I see you are a very knowledgeable professional. I have a big, big problem with moles in my yard and I have not been able to win that fight so far. Each spring after moss control and power raking I apply topsoil to flatten the lawns and then reseed. As soon as I turn the irrigation on, suddenly many moles show up and destroy my hard work and my lawn. I am paying a guy to catch them, however, moles already make a lot of damage before they get caught. Do you have any advice on how to prevent mole activity? How do you fight moles? Do you have a mole problem in your area? Thank you. Regards from British Columbia Dan

love the vids robbie, im looking for some advice to get the best this year. i have made a small lawn intentionally to try and get the perfect decorative lawn( looking for results like ryan knor). ive had some sucess considering last year was my first year. this year i would like to start from scratch, so im planning on killing it all off and starting again. ive just bought myself an allet 35 battery cylender mower and was wondering what type of grass would be best to try and get the perfect stripes. i live in gourock on the west cosat of Scotland. so its quite similar weather to your home town. ive leveled the lawn quite well but plan to get it perfectly level before i start again. any help would be very much appreciated

What I didn't understand is how can a battery at around half a kilo, cause unequal weight distribution on a cylinder mower when the majority of the weight is in the steel roller? It does not make any sense to me anyway. The liberty 35 is 26.5kg without the battery. With the battery I'd be surprised if it was barely a kilo more. Its not going to make any difference 🤔👍

Great video as usual Robbie 👍👍. I wonder if you could help me please? we had a new rear lawn laid last August with what the chap called 'stadium turf'. Unfortunately on the day they did it the weather was quite bad, they preferred to carry on though as the turf had been ordered for that day/had arrived. Anyway, it looked great when done and we stayed away from it for weeks, well beyond the 3 weeks the gardener mentioned and I didnt cut the grass until a month and a bit after it had been laid. I have only ever cut the grass on the mowers highest setting and to be fair we didnt use the grass at all really. Here in Manchester weve had a very wet winter followed by a very cold spell. During the winter I carefully raked off the leaves which had fallen from the sycamore tree. But now I'm left with a lot of bald areas and cast iron looking soil! what is the best remedy for this as we head into the spring (hopefully)?? any help is greatly appreciated 👍👍 many thanks

I have a lawn care company treating my front lawn, four times a year. Towards the end of last year I didn’t get a chance to do a last cut due to very wet conditions leaving the grass about 5-6 cm long. When the lawn company made their last visit in December, while we were out of the house for a little while, they scarified the lawn. On returning we saw the grass was literally flatted with bare patches. I wasn’t happy but assumed they knew their job and thought it would recover. It hasn’t and still looks unhealthy and sparse. After complaining to the company they visited and hinted the scarifying might have been too aggressive, offering to restore the lawn by reseeding. Is it good practice to scarify a wet lawn?
