I enjoy knowing the backstory of each property. But moreover it reminds of an incident when our family home got a citation for code enforcement because our backyard had gotten so overgrown and we had 2 weeks to get it under control. I remember how hard we worked with the minimal equipment we had. A cheap $100 push mower and string trimmer and some hedge clippers getting through vines and grass over 6 feet tall and weeds thicker than my wrist back then. The final section was so bad the string trimmer couldn't cut it. My mother and I went out there 5 minutes at a time in 105F heat to tackle it using just a machete. It was like a jungle adventure.

That’s wild John! It certainly is hard when gardens take over! Sometimes bigger equipment is needed. Like tractors or high powered ride ons. I don’t have the storage for these but would like to help people in the future Mozza 🙃

Beautiful job, got it turned around. Just a week or two for the rain to green it up and wash all the dirt off the pavement. Job done! The narrative is spot on telling the backstory and explaining the process. Helps the non gardeners understand. I remember doing the edges with a hand push edger and a pair of snips. lol gives away I’m 61. 🤠 -Brian

Thanks Brian! Yes thinking of it, I wish I took my pressure washer to do that. Thanks for the feedback on the narrative. Iv never seen a hand push edger. Are they effective? Cheers 😃

I'm a fan of the wider cut the golden edge edger blade does. Don't see many using it though.
@mozzasmowing4 ай бұрын
I’ll look into that. I have an atom edger. The standard blades they come with are pretty thin. I used it in my 1st video on this channel. It’s a good edger but like I say I prefer the string for deeper edges Thank you 🙏

Hi Mozza, really nice sharp Edge lines on that small patch of grass. I think that Edge lines really stand out on little sections of grass. Whoever took care of the lawn before was so inconsiderate to see the For Lease sign and just leave the lawn grow so tall.

Looks good. FYI I notice some gardeners use an edger that cuts through and then use the string cutter and they get a sharper look. You may want to try that gadget too.

Thank you 🙏 Yes I have that gadget but it’s a bit of a pain to use sometimes. Do need it for thicker overgrown edges tho. Have a good day 🤙

You were making me dizzy how many circles you turned in the initial slash down with the whipper snipper... As a groundsman in the past (I had a whole city block to edge, as well as internal paths at the school... it was over 5 km's of edging, and I wold not have done it with a string trimmer... I can tell you that no-one on YT - anywhere - is using what I consider the best tool to edge with - from the initial setting of the gap and demarcation between concrete and lawn, to maintaining the edges subsequently... the string on the trimmer is not suitable or designed to dig into that dirt to make that clear distinct edge that will be much easier to maintain going forward... I'm almost inclined to start a YT channel just edging and using that one tool... Hope your channel keeps growing, love how you use phrases from the UK, yet have adopted a very Aussie version of your name... Cheers!

Thanks Bud! Yes no chance I would edge 5km with a string. No way! Back would be buggered in a day! 🙃

Looks great! Just out of curiosity, why go over the lawn 3 times?
@mozzasmowing4 ай бұрын
Thank you 😃 The mower doesn’t pick everything up on the 1st go when it’s that long. And there are runner shoots in the lawn that don’t come up easily. Have to mow it on highest setting then drop it down and keep picking up the bits that get left behind. Also I have the OCD so just have to get it right 😅 Mozza

Does it hurt you shoulder holding the whipper so damn high?
@mozzasmowing4 ай бұрын
8 years like this. It’s the only way I can use it or feels natural to me. Definitely get sore shoulders during peak season especially when doing large hedges. But I find weight strength training helps but I’m definitely out of alignment 🫤

Thanks for the back stories on each job it's interesting. WOW how lazy does someone have to be to not cut this patch of grass😳😕 really the sign was to much for the so called lawn guy they were using?? 🤔🙄 If nothing else the guy could have simply used the weed eater around sign if it was such a problem for him. Shocking the foolishness of people in my opinion on this matter. If I was the company/ person that used that guy he would no longer be working for me. The positive is what a good job you did and I love your attitude and attention to your jobs. I like using the weed eater on edges as well and I understand the blade usage also each one has it's own style. No way could I wear shorts 😂 every time I have things bite me even with bug spray on and when weed eating things small rocks etc pop up on my legs and it hurts and cuts me sometimes. I understand why you wear shorts it can get very hot. I think you wear eye protection when weed eating but if you don't it might be better if you do because of stuff that could pop up to your eyes. I just worry is all but you are a grown man you certainly can do whatever you want 😊. Shout Out from USA Georgia again 🎉 Love your channel and work you do with pride and attention to detail. 💯👍

I’m glad you like the stories. Like to give you an idea of what is going on without rambling on too much 😅 I don’t know how people wear long pants and long sleeves when it’s so hot! I couldn’t do it. I have to get the pins out. Loads of sunscreen tho on my English white skin! I used to wear full goggles 🥽 but they would always steam up even tho they had vent holes so I just have my sun glasses now. They are thick on the sides but I get what you. I try to be as careful as possible. Thanks for the love from Georgia 🇺🇸
@choosewisely69944 ай бұрын
@@mozzasmowing Lol, you don't ramble to much in my opinion. Oh I understand what you say about not wearing long pants and sleeves in summer it is brutal the heat there I am sure and in Georgia as well. I wear thin pants and short sleeves but on occasion I do wear shorts but get beat up with small rock pebbles and bugs biting me 😬. I have even put down stuff on the lawn to kill bugs but nothing has worked. Mosquito's are vicious here lol and ants as well as ticks and chiggers. Plus snakes here as we have talked about, it's crazy 😧. The heat is getting to much here for me, I turn red from the heat and working in yard with my white skin as well 😀. I use sunscreen also but I get blistered alot. I even wear a hat with a brim on it but to no avail. I trimmed some of my bushes this past Sunday already and touch up my azalea bushes and gardenia bushes . Hydrangeas are starting to get buds. Early spring here already. Plus we have had a lot of rain. The cattail bushes have been trimmed and are already coming back up beautifully with green but no full yet that will be later on. My neighbor ask me Sunday to help her plant maybe rose's and pretty things I have in my yard in her's, we will see but I told her you have to water plants 😆. Also my day Lily's are coming up☺️ Enjoy your day and evening, I think you are 12 hours ahead of Georgia. Take care 😁⭐
@mozzasmowing4 ай бұрын
Yes ticks are a big problem if they get on you but luckily I haven’t had that issue. Most of the lawns I do are maintained so snakes luckily are also not an issue thank goodness. Sounds like you have been busy in the garden. That’s wonderful. Yea people love to plant things but forget about the basic maintenance ie water and a bit of love 😅 I Love Lilly’s. Hope you get a good season out of them! The garden is a full time project Yes it’s 6am here and I’m getting ready for the day ahead. Have 9 lawns booked today but only maintenance lawns. No jungles today!!! 😂 Have a good one Mozza

@@mozzasmowing Have a great day ☺️ I have in my backyard a large area of woods and water drainage so that brings unwanted creatures lol. I live in the city in a subdivision but because of the woods which are pretty but it brings unwanted creatures around. I do have a empty lot beside me that is not maintained well so things live in there😳 lol. Several builders have bought the lot over time to put a house on it but nothing ever happens with the lot, not sure why. I do try and keep it somewhat clean looking by my side of house. Sunday I cut down some small trees and bush close to my side of house near it. Lol I am always doing something 😀. Remember to drink water and sport's drinks, be safe. You are a busy man so try and get rest as well. Peace Out ✌️😁
