though stats dont tell the whole story they help. Thats why this guys videos are great as the show the real stats that were not kept well back then. One thing that sticks out is that when you compare all the " next LTs". or his competition. ie. tippet swilling wilson green thomas miller suggs ware ....... some have comparable sack numbers even more in one case but their sack rate are all lower with exception of maybe thomas but I am not sure but then when you look at tackles and most literally dont have half the number of tackles.. the only one that ever measures up but who is ALWAYS over looked is rickey jackson... and though its too early to tell micah parsons ... the giants will regret passing him up unless the trade produces perennial all pros

Some of these plays seem to defy the laws of physics, and are downright impossible for any other player. How many NFL players could pressure the passer at the start of a play, then make the tackle on a completed pass 15-20 yards away at the end of the same play? On some of these plays it looks like the Giants have 12 guys on the field because Taylor pretty much plays two different positions: pass-rushing end for 3-5 seconds, then strong safety for the next 3-5 seconds. Unbelievable.

This should also be an instructional video on how to "tackle." LT never played looking to "light guys up." He tried to take the ball carrier to the ground. He never launched himself with his head down, his arms close to his chest while aiming high and trying to remain on his feet while the ball carrier or receiver was layed out. He kept his head up and aimed it across the body, wrapped his arms and let his body weight drag the guy to the ground. The JJ Watt fanatics who want to put him ahead of LT as the GOAT need to watch all these LT highlight videos and educate themselves. You couldn't possibly be a better player than Taylor. Perfect tackler, fast as a wide receiver, quick as a scatback, a brick wall coming at you at 20mph. Anyone who remembers the game tecmo bowl remembers you could just use Taylor and no matter which way the other team ran or threw you could make the tackle with LT. Seemed ridiculous until u realize he did it in real life.
@callmefreeze9 жыл бұрын
I'll go further than that with LT on tecmo bowl you could block FGs with him too that's how fast he was. No one ever defensively could be ahead of him until Watt wins a mvp award then everyone needs to stfu. LT is still the only defensive player to win the award.

I am struck by the strength and athleticism of LT. He would grab running backs with a single hand and fling them as if they were paper weights. He was fast, as fast as many backs and receivers, and hit with tremendous force. LT was a Swiss army knife linebacker, he could rush the QB, with the best of them, he could and did play the run tremendously, running down backs on the complete opposite side of the filed that he was lined up on, and he was excellent in pass coverage. You didn't have to concern yourself with tight-end coverage miss-matches with LT on the field. Truly, one of the greatest to ever play
