This show ends abruptly. I used to record these programs "over the air" back in the 1980's. VHS tapes were expensive at the beginning, so I tried to fit as much on a tape as possible. Thanks to Jeffrey and Chris for recommending this episode.

Anacani's solo, "Without You" is particularly striking, as much as I love her upbeat numbers with some dancing, her way with a ballad in these deeper tones is stunning. The Aldridge/Atwell's get stronger and stronger in their vocal prowess and fun acting chops. "Mickey Mouse Mambo" was a cool re-enactment; Kathy Sullivan, rather underrated, is incandescent and, in many ways, the "new" Champagne Lady!

Since sharing these, I am amazed at what people have recorded and shared. I only purchased a VCR in 1979 -- so these are the only episodes I actaually recorded and am sharing. How I wish I had one earlier.

@@RobertGundlachMusic I am very thankful so many decided to preserve this show. My parents purchased their 1st VCR in 1988. I recorded Welk shows almost weekly since then. In 2006 I purchased a DVDR where I could record from TV and transfer all my VHS.I stopped about 2012. I also preserved all the musical numbers from all of these shows onto Audacity as a WAV, now as an MP3. I truly appreciate your interest and generosity in sharing these.

@@PastorT73 And many thanks for all of the shows you have posted. I have saved many of yours also. As I probably mentioned before, my brother and I are the only garegivers for our 97 year old mother with advanced dementia -- but she seems to enjoy the Lawrence Welk shows.

@@RobertGundlachMusic It is especially great to see all those you have preserved which have never been viewed since their first airing. So many fans would desire the Welk organization to produce the entire 27 year run in DVDs commercially, which most likely will never happen. We are so grateful for your KZfaq Welk programs.

@@PastorT73 I still believe there would be a market just to have a Lawrence Welk streaming service.

This appears to be Larry Hoopers' last featured performance on the Lawrence Welk Show (Spoonful of Sugar 19:40). He did appear in the Easter show in March as part of an all-cast chorus. Larry suffered from heart and kidney disease, probably a consequence of diabetes, and died in 1983 at the age of 65.

When I watch the older shows of Lawrence Welk, I really appreciate how versatile Larry Hooper was. While Bob Schmale and Bob Ralston's technical abilities were unmatched, Larry played a very nice rhythm piano in the shows from the 1950's.

Hi Robert, would you happen to have the "Songs of the 70's" from Dec 15,1979 or the Riverboat Show from Feb 23,1980?

Hi Mike -- Songs of the 70's I have -- I think it's the rerun of the episode but the time frame is correct. I do have one makred Riverboat -- but I have never been able to determine the day since it starts late and is the rerun. I will post them tomorrow - Aug 27th -- but if you can provide any information about the episodes once you see them, please do. Rob [I only have 4 shows from 1979, most of my shows are from 1980 and 1981]
