Sometimes I am amaze that the debate is always centred about who is right who is wrong and trying to throw out whatever the opposition are presenting. For the sake of the country, the people, I hope the Govt starts to listen to proposal papers whether it is ruling party or opposition, recognise that their current policies are not perfect, be brave to recognise and take the good parts and incorporate it for the good of the people.

you're talking on the short term, in uncertainty, SG has proved to be more resilient with those challenges, as compared to others, from the bold move of buying vaccine and reopening the market, comparing to US, China, and Malaysia. Well, people always love spoon-feeding, but cannot see the future, that's why leaders are selected, the workers' party has been proven wrong for quite a number issue, such as proposing cutting down the supply of BTO etc., SG took the impossible route to become developing country with no resources, comparing to neighboring countries. You can't deny the fact that this monopoly bring SG to this height. And I think the monopoly side of politic definitely helps to progress the country, with merit-based system, as compared to ordinary democracy system. However, there's always double sided on any matter. Therefore, the WP should always come out something with long term prospect, at the same time, think of the worst cases. They always think of the perfect scenario. Opinions are my own.

One just needs to see how the Singapore Budget was delivered and realise how the Malaysia Budget cares more for Malaysian citizens and their local SMEs. No point telling PAP which has lost its conscience, loyalty towards Singaporeans and moral compass.

Another thing the WP needs to ask is since Year 2000, what was the shortest and longest duration it took for foreigners given PRs and citizenship to be granted a new flat by HDB. Already online, many Singaporeans are now voicing how foreigners are owning flats and making vast profits once they take on a new citizenship overseas or keep increasing rents that local born Singaporeans can no longer even afford.

Firstly, you must check are PRs eligible for new flats. Then, you must ask what is the % of new citizen households granted BTOs within the stated period. Next, you must provide the number of Singaporeans voicing online. Otherwise, your post is just like makciks' small talk at markets! 😜

As HDB prices and rents continue to climb higher and higher, the government would collect more taxes from property tax, rental income tax etc. It's more money for the government. The government has a monopoly on HDB flats. So naturally, it controls the supply for its maximum benefit.

@Betray Singaporeans I m 100% to high caliber foreign talents n high value assets new citizens into Singapore social fabric ~ we need brilliant minds n more monies into our economies. I m against “cheap FWs”, Jiu Hu Kia,Pinoy n Myanmar displacing of local borne Singaporeans. SMEs r exploiting the local labour content via these cheap labour substitutes, therefore our salaries 4 ave common people is low ~ how many of Singaporeans has 7A’s during our education. And the PAP is assisting these SMEs because the cost of biz operations in Singapore has 2 high cost factors(high rental - caused by Gov invested entities eg capital land~52% owned by Singapore state investor Temasek and imported food sources-unavoidable. Therefore, the only variable fix cost is labour content. Forcing the ave common people to take low salaries whilst Ministers/Bosses drives in big Mercedes = it is polarising to a 2 Singapore(s). It is those who has resources of production(ie money) vs those who has labour to exchange ~ the basic Bourgeoisie vs Proletariat Marxism.

Let the Great Asia enlighten you: Divide the population of the country into two halves, let's call the first half the "Landlord", and the next half the "Peasant". The Peasant works for the Landlord and makes them richer. The landlord then uses the new wealth to acquire more lands. What do you think would happen to the children and grandchildren of the Peasant? More than 50% of future generations will be born in HDB-4rm flats and trapped in HDB 4-rm flats for life. In the past decade, PAP has built so many little HDB flats and condos. There will be a huge angst from Singaporeans who are not able to upgrade to a bigger living space. Imagine a population density of more than 10,000 per sqkm, and people living in compact spaces in perpetual. There will be huge, huge social and political problems. The ruling elites are too rich, too elitist, and too self-serving, they can't see the problems. Problems cannot be solved by winning debates. PAP has not learned in the past 50 years. Why HDB flats, or rather housing, problem is still a hot topic today? Ha ha ha!

This is capitalism for you, a double edge sword. It makes innovation but it makes the rich richer. But tbh I would rather take the capitalism route, continue to innovation and make more people get richer, while the rich also get even richer, than to pick communism and become like what China and Soviet Union used to be, dirt poor. Housing will always be a huge topic. It is easy to increase the supply of house, but it is not always a good idea. Increasing the supply too much crushes the housing market, this will wipe out many people's hard earn money and cause a credit crunch and then an economic slow down. Balancing is the way but it is difficult to do. PAP want to be hands off and allow market to cool down on its own, while WP wants to pull it down directly, who is right or wrong is very subjective, no one know the future.

He moved China away from Mao's ideology of a planned economy and communism. The great economic growth experienced in China happened after Deng Xiao Ping took over in the late 1970s. Clearly from what you have said can see that you know nothing about the change China when through. Communism gave China the great famine and capitalism gave China one of the greatest economic growth ever seen.

It is laughable, Mr Leon, because it is such a weak and childish attempt to use 'BTO projects should continue (doesn't say anything else after)' - because you freaking proposed at a 9,000 units annually RATE! ANY one will and ought to read it as the BTO projects should continue at your PROPOSED rate, if not why the f would you propose that!? It is a no-brainer that BTO projects should continue (9,000 also means continue, 12,000 also means continue, 14,000 also means continue, et cetera)! What is painful to watch is every time WP is caught with their pants down, they have ZERO humility to admit mistake, always trying to wriggle their way out (just like Khan saga). There is nothing wrong with saying "I did say 9,000 annually, but now things have changed, there's global inflation, supply chain disruptions and Ukraine war, it seems that 9,000 annually is no longer feasible...". WP is disgraceful *facepalm**

How can we forget `continue the narrative, you would not be judged.' Their working paper is full of escape clauses. Like you said, BTO confirmed must go on, and calibrate only 12 years later? Got say like no say. If there is really a glut, I'm sure their definition of their working paper will become `I told you so'. As of now, it is `we did not say to reduce'. Then why calibrate? Or calibrate 12 years later with a USB plan that does not solve the displacements of people from their buy-back scheme?
