Even as a non-gun person, I completely appreciate Ian’s perspective and wisdom.

I have no guns or related competencies, but when Ian explains something, I listen! Currently over here looking 👀 for deer like Elmer(a) Fudd😭

I was laughing when he looked straight at Brooks and said yes I was trying to shoot you, you were the threat the vehicle was the weapon. Not exact wording I've been watching the trial every day since day 1 and he was one of my favorite witnesses

Yes, Ian!! This is my biggest concern about the idea that we should arm teachers - I’ve never been in a school where there’s a safe backstop that will absorb a round and NOT ricochet.

The bullet ricochet cliche is not a realistic one in most practical environments, at least not in the sense that the bullet will bounce around a room even off of one surface, let alone multiple. Bullets actually tend to either hit a hard concrete or steel surface and then "follow" the wall or they simply break up and scatter in a ring along the plane parallel with the surface they impacted. It's a common thing you hear in various trainings not to stand right up against walls for this reason (the bullet and/or shrapnel can obviously injure you).

@@sqrlmonger This doesn't make things better. Either kids are in a clumped up group that makes an easy target, or they're along a concrete wall to get hit with bullet fragments, if not bullets. The point is that most school surfaces don't stop/absorb bullets. The tldr here is more bullets = more damage, more shots in a crowded area = higher likelihood of hitting innocent kids. And that's discounting the fact that in a school shooting scenario, the chance of no kids being either between the teacher and the shooter or behind the shooter is almost zero until _after_ there have already been casualties. Your fantasy scenario ignores the basic principle Ian said was super important: you don't take the shot if you aren't 100% certain there aren't things you don't want to hit behind your target. Your desire for a John Wayne moment is outweighing children's lives at this point, do better.

why does this short not play and go directly to the next short when I click on it? Then I scroll back/up (on browser) and there's no video, just audio.
