There was an amicus brief that was filed in an attempt to help Amber Heard mitigate the absolute BLOW OUT she received from the Johnny Depp's Defamation lawsuit. It's flatly terrible and almost makes Johnny's case against Amber.
Grab some whiskey and join me.

It galvanized and invigorated an existing movement, so there's that. But I think that, more importantly, it had a big impact on people on an individual level. An awful lot of individual people have had their eyes opened on this topic because of this trial. An awful lot of individual people adds up to a big impact overall.

I said this during the trial. People were excited about positive change coming out of it and I said at the time that people care about Jack Sparrow here, not about false allegations. They want to see Depp win because he's Depp, not because they care about how thoroughly unjust the culture has been to men in this area for decades.

That would burn through the $7 million divorce settlement that she didn't give to charity like she promised pretty quickly. It is definitely quite telling. Her supposed 3-day fiasco turns out to be only a one day (half, actually) mess in which he proposes a post-nuptial agreement & she goes batcrap crazy! Before half the day is even out, he's lost his fingertip & the house is completely trashed.Malcolm took him to a hotel & Jerry Judge began work on getting her on a plane to send her to the US. All her cut up feet, arms, legs, etc. are apparent to NO ONE! You can hear her enter the room & say, "Oh my gosh! Did I do all this?" She takes pics of the mirror this day but NOT of any inquires she supposedly has.He went to the hospital --- why couldn't she? She's supposedly bleeding vaginally but does nothing about it but cry & try to get out of having to leave Australia because "I'm afraid I'll lose him if I leave." Jerry tells JD's sister "She doesn't know it yet but I've got her number!" He's got her all figured out & knows if they continue much longer, his boss stands to lose far more than he already had. It's such a shame Jerry Judge passed away before the trial(well, at all as he was just a gem) as he was so strong in standing up to her, putting her in her place, & disallowing her from getting over on anyone! He would've shown her the door had he outlasted her & her tricks & tantrums! (I'm unaware of what he was able to continuing doing& for how long but while active, he was a huge help for JD!) Also, we NEED more sigs on the petition for the appeal in the UK. The BlackBelt Barrister is still fairly confident he can appeal to the high court to make some sort of change IF we can gather enough sigs. I find it hard to believe we have the millions of followers of JD out there & yet less than 500K sigs on the petition.I still pass it around & it should be said, regardless whether you believe it will gain him the attention he deserves or not, signing it won't hurt! And I do think things are changing, albeit slowly. I've read cases of people who've come forward since watching JD feeling they now have the power to do so & have won their cases! I pray it continues to grow as we won't stop & won't let it slide!

The whole crux of this brief, and Amber's case and support, stems from one simple thing: these people think that "domestic abuse" is only ever possible in the situation where the _man_ is the abuser and the _woman_ is the victim. Then, when confronted with her very clear anti-male bias, she tried to defend herself by saying she'd had male victims as patients.... gay men. This type of thing is why I will not get involved when women I don't know run into trouble anymore. There is a crazy cat lady that moved in across the street from me and she complains to everyone that the men (even the gay ones) are always undressing her with their eyes. I would not see anything if someone was stabbing her in front of her house.

I would love to write a summary/outline of that brief for the judges. I could get that down to about 2 pages, and the complete irrelevance of it would shine through.

The thing that I really appreciated about the Depp trial is that our family finally got a hint into why my ex-sister-in-law behaves like she does. Personality disorders weren't something that I was very familiar with before Dr Currie testified.

"... are gravely concerned that the verdict..." Bad bad bad opening. Imagine someone convicted of swatting. "... this verdict might discourage others from calling 911 in an emergency." The concern about chilling effects belongs in the conclusion, after the arguments have been made.

Nick, what do you think are the odds that Amber saw what the Onion and the Bee did to support some dude's case, and then demand her lawyers try the same thing for hers?

Her lawyers aren't writing this amicus brief, and couldn't, because it'd be inappropriate for her lawyers to write as an interested non-party to the courts. But I do think it was written by Michelle Dauber and that weird British female lawyer on twitter who keeps huffing Amber's farts.

If I understand the situation correctly, Disney fired Depp to virtue signal how supportive of women they are. Instead of supporting the husband who was working on one of their own profitable franchises, they instead supported the wife who was in a DC franchise movie that competes with their Marvel franchise and done by Warner Bros who are a direct competitor of theirs as well, a competitor who is getting press for walking back from the same political stance that Disney itself champions. Then Disney's action ended up being a critically important piece of Depp winning both in court and in public opinion. This seems to me like an entirely foreseeable self-own on Disney's part.

She is a liar and her Amica brief does nothing to cover those hues. "Today I published' followed by a quote tweet displaying the headline and link is a clear statement of publication and ownership of her hoaxes and fraud, and the defamation arising (which she took insurance cover to 'protect' her from liability... which is definitely the first thing I do when I'm saying true things I know to be true. /s

It would be worth comparing this to the prosecution and acquittal of George Cardinal Pell down in Australia. He was accused of the same crime far too many Priests were guilty of, found guilty, appealed it up to High Court of Australia, and was acquitted on the grounds no reasonable jury could have found him guilty on the facts of the case.

I'd like to say, for the record... Directly because of the trial, I did find the courage to leave my abuser & finally file an Order of Protection about 2 months ago. My children & I are finally free after 25 yrs of horrific physical, mental & verbal abuse. I'm living proof that the amici claims regarding the "chilling affect" of the verdict... couldn't be more false. I can't stress enough just how much this trial helped me & saved us.

Just from the first couple of paragraphs, made me feel like this "document" was created by a sophomore in high school with too much money, either that or an 'influencer". Were I the judge, I'd dismiss this because of the errors in grammar and/or spelling. I wish people would stop doubling and tripling down. She repeated her statements after the trial for crying out loud. Also, the only one I saw with proof of having bots were for the defendant. I'm sick of people trying to use the law to push social agendas.

Freakin love this critique!!! Hard to believe that they believe that one singular case in all of US history would sway society or stop women from reporting abuse to police officers (err I mean TMZ).. this is so infuriating. - like seriously who do these people think women report abuse to? Never ever in a million years would I say ‘oh no .. I better not report abuse because Amber Heard lost her defamation case .. I better just let the abuser walk free and the abuse to continue with others.’
