Yes you are right. Johnny did get to decide to televise it. Amber Heard's side did not want to. It seems Johnny has spent his life being a very private person while in the spotlight. I think by televising it, it further backed up his claim that he wanted to tell his truth.

I think one of the smartest things mr. Depp’s team did was to have this trial televised. I think he would’ve won anyway because the jury did their job, but the greater world would have still considered her a victim. Thru the years we’ve all heard about his drinking and drug use. He’s always been very honest about that. As a woman survivor of abuse I tend to be on the side of women. Because she had been accusing him and he had not spoken up I assumed that there was some truth to her tales of woe. So I had no interest in the Amber and Johnny show until I hurt myself and ended up in bed. Boredom drove me to check it out. The minute I heard that “he” owned five penthouses and “her family and friends” were living “rent-free” in them my ears perked up! I thought, “something is very wrong here, abusers get rid of friends and family!” At that point, just like so many other domestic violence survivors, I was “very interested” in that trial. It did not take long before I realized Mr. Depp was the “abused” and not the “abuser”. How dare women and women’s movements assume that “only women” can be hurt and that “only women” have the right to speak out about domestic violence? Do we not have sons as well as daughters? Men should be afforded as much respect as women for coming forward when abused. We shouldn’t expect them to just take it on the chin and have their lives, finances, and jobs destroyed because of an abusive and vindictive woman. No more than a woman should be destroyed because of a vindictive or abusive man.

Judy, that was my ah-ha moment too! As a survivor, I know that my abuser separated me from family and friends. He didn’t want me to have an ounce of support or witnesses to what he did! The fact that they lived with her and did not see any physical ramifications from the type of beatings she described (and they would have been obvious not easily covered by concealers) says everything!

You dont scream at them for spilling wine on you, you dont beg them to stay. Abusers are controlling, she was having numerous affairs, she definitely was not afraid of johnny. And with all of your resources, no photos or medical records showing injuries from the horrific details of her stories. She took pics of the mirror but none of her cuts, bleeding, bruising. She was penetrated by a bottle, she didnt seek medical attention? If she didnt trust his team, shes a celebrity she could have sought medical attention separate from johnnys Drs. These tapes saved johnny because victims know that she is lying.

The fact that they edited it *after* the teasers had been realised is wild to me. They had already been picked apart by the entire population of the internet. Did they think we wouldn’t notice?
@hairlikeafox
@hairlikeafox 2 жыл бұрын
They knew. The running theory is, in the contract between NBC and AH there was some sort of stipulation about AHs team having final say in the "hour long interview" or "Final copy before airing" or whatever it was labeled as. But, forgot to include anything about the teaser clips, so NBC released the good shit in the clips knowing they legally could. Maybe it was for getting people to tune in (because it worked), maybe someone just really wanted the world to see just how AH spouted off and would be edited. (Probably the 1st one though).

From a 15-year veteran journalist who ran newsrooms and won awards for my writing... The teasers were meant to portray Guthrie as a fearless badass; to assuage and attract Johnny fans to watch the extended version. The extended version was meant to paint Amber as a sympathetic but flawed human being and Johnny as a suave and debonair celebrity who got away with abuse. The media routinely manipulates the public like this. That's why people watch folks like Emily D. Baker and not mainstream news.

Amber wants people to remember that she's human, yet ironically refers to Johnny as everything but. For example, from this interview alone, she references him as a "character", a "great actor" and "Captain Jack Sparrow". She refers to the public as "the average person" (elitist much?!). Then there's her detractors / anyone that questions or doesn't support her, who she labels as "rando's", "bots", "deppford wives", "incels", & "super-fans". Yes Amber, we know that you are human. So is Casey Anthony. She is beyond hypocritical. She opens the interview insisting that she is not vindictive, which, I'm not even going to touch on - But then she goes on to say that she does not care how anyone perceives her, then proceeds to make requests on how she'd like to be viewed. Like... what??? Pro-tip: Treat others how you would like to be treated 🙂

1 second ago When the psychologist diagnosed Heard with BPD and HPD, she said in the trial that Amber has abandonment issues. Johnny trying to leave to a different room during arguments just inflamed her and made her act worse. So, I think Johnny staying silent and ignoring Amber is the best way to handle her. Johnny making her irrelevant to him will drive her nuts and be a better “punishment” of her. Johnny leaving everything to his lawyers to handle is a smart move. Amber says she wants to move on, but she is incapable of doing that given her actions after the trial.

But if she wants to live in denial, she will continue to have many problems. She won't get roles as an actress. But she will act the rest of her life away. She won't have real friends, her money will dwindle away.... And she will eventually have a shit job she has to work in order to keep a roof over her head. She will grow very angry. JD can act well enough that all of his viewers find it easy to suspend disbelief and just roll with the fact that something as strange as having scissors for fingers is totally okay. Amber, on the other hand, can't convince a handful of people that she's been through something as disgustingly everyday as being a victim of DV, and she had only recently been made aware of that fact, so she was still bitter about it. I think Amber has seen serious abuse and experienced the emotional abuse of being a witness (likely mom and dad). People react differently and develop coping mechanisms they may or may not be aware of or in control of. I don't think Amber has ever actually been *hit* by anyone, ever, simply because her descriptions of pain and damage and "make up" etc. are so *wildly* unrealistic, it's blatantly obvious to anyone who has been hit... simply never happened. I think she witnessed and was deeply traumatized by abuse at some point in her life, probably parents, and you can see the weird codependency in Whitney and their relationship as well. I think it damaged her to the point of personality disorder and she copes by hurting others, especially men. I think she is definitely a classic cluster b personality and she will never be reasonable. She won't accept responsibility and therapy would ineffective. That doesn't make her insane or not responsible. She definitely premeditated and planned and executed every step of this and continues to. She will continue to destroy lives, including her own. Everyone needs to give her wide berth and wait for the inevitable ugly end.

I think the most disturbing thing about the editing is how blatantly it projects a "You'll believe what we want you to believe" message. I agree. I had read horrifying details about The Avery case in a book. He told everyone in prison; from a therapist to the guards and prisoners, that he would kill a woman and then said (and made drawings of) something I wish I didn't learn, bc I can't forget it. It turned out that he got pretty close with the details. However, anyone who didn't know of all that information, but saw Making Of A Murderer, would be inclined to believe he was innocent. They can skew a story to appear to be the opposite of the truth.

Yeah i caught the media lying about a yr ago about a debuting story, and i ONLY knew they were misrepresenting because i had been listening to independent news sources and had already heard the full story. I didnt believe "fake news" was real until i saw it first hand. But its not so much that they out right lie, its more like lies of omission and context. They leave pertinent facts out (like we saw here) that lead a viewer to see a story a certain way. I cant tell you how angry it made me to realize I'd been manipulated. Horrible feeling. So now i dont watch mainstream news anymore (the one i saw was ABC evening news. Which i assumed was harmless. ) Its just so corrupted. I actually thought 60 minutes was above it all until i saw them do a hit piece on a politican, where again i already knew the full story and new they had edited heavily to misrepresent him and edit him to look corrupt. It doesn't matter what political side youre on, they need to represent politicians truthfully and fairly. We as voters deserve to have to have the truth regardless so we can make an educated decision.

When the psychologist diagnosed Heard with BPD and HPD, she said in the trial that Amber has abandonment issues. I believe NBC (and Amber's PR team) used us all as a focus group for the first two excerpts released. The final interview was drastically changed to better benefit Amber.

I have a theory: Amber had control of the all the content of the interview. They decided to publish bites to see how the public would react and then ask them to edit those parts or she would ask not to publish the interview. I've been an editor my whole life and when I started my mentor told me phrase that I will never forget: Being a good editor consists in being a good lier. Buuuuuuut in the case of interviews like this, we rarely edit this way it's only in reality shows or documentaries. The objective is to lead people in a good way. It worries me that they decided (or let Amber) edit this way because it's with the intention of manipulating the audience, I see no other reason for it.

When I listened to the teasers, I was impressed with Savannah Guthrie’s interview style-as you said- pointed, but in a kind way. It promoted me to wonder if she has a law degree. She does. The edited Dateline version portrayed the exchange as a "softball" interview, which was more sympathetic to Amber Heard, but downplayed Savannah Guthrie’s skill. I wonder if Ms Guthrie feels as if some of her best lines were left on the cutting room floor.

There was something else that made me think she is using media manipulation: the article about her having the worlds most beautiful face according to science. It is so weird to me, seeing the media picking it up and seeing every mayor IG account make a post about it. It’s actually scary lol, but I’m glad the comments were mostly about her personality cancelling that out!

I was struck by the way Amber always referred to “Johnny” in contrast to the the way “Mr. Depp” always used “Miss Heard.” I felt Amber was intentionally using “Johnny” as a way to diminish “Mr.Depp” as a human.

Yes. This is about her refusing to give him respect. Adults use first names of children, but the children don’t get to use first names of adults. So by using his first name when he refers to her as “Ms Heard”, she is subtly positioning herself as the superior in the relationship. She is also pointing out that she “was on a first-name basis” with him. In this way she is STILL trying to get reflected glory from him, so she is better than all of us because we don’t know “Johnny” but she does. (Which is likely a major reason she was in relationship with him in the first place, consistent with her diagnoses, per Dr Curry.)

Her slipping and saying "the resources say you or i do." means she's been either coached or has been studying what real dv victims go through and how they react to things to make herself look more believable. That was a slip up. She knows she has resources. She knows she's not a victim. She has completely separated herself from that group because she doesn't belong in it. But she's been told or she herself thinks this is what I need to say to look like a victim.

The only reason she even announced she was “donating” her entire divorce settlement was because she was upset about being called a gold digger. It’s clear she never intended to follow through. That’s precisely why she never signed the paperwork’ regarding her “pledge”, sent by the ACLU. You can see this time and again, how she does things because of her concern about how SHE appears. We even heard her sobbing, with such self pity to Johnny in San Francisco, I believe it was, how her reputation was ruined…what everyone was saying about her. When she brought ALL that ish on herself. 💁🤥😵‍💫🙄

The only credit I will give AH is that she isn’t the only one doing this, by saying she donated and not follow through. Many people in the ent. industry do this, and not just during divorce settlements. She heeded someone’s advice on this. It helps bolster and maintain their image. We would never know who they all are. They also mainly donate/support charities for the tax right-off. It exposes the industry. There are truly charitable/giving people too I’m sure. Technically, it was her award money to do with as she chose, but it was the lie she told that was the problem.

@@lindseysanders3656 I'm surprised they didn't torch amber on more than the 7 million settlement. They didn't go into the over 13 million in debt that was accumulated during the marriage and it fell solely on johhny to pay. Thats why she got 7 million when she says she was entitled to 30 million, when she was only married for 13 months. I would have totally shredded her on that bullshit but im unsure if they were allowed to go into that or if they couldn't find a way to get it in.

And after Australia, "Go back and say what?" She asked in the recording. She was more concerned about appearances then the condition of her husband. Yes, she insisted on staying "he needs me, if I go it will all be over..." Did she mean the fairytale, the free ride, someone taking her beatings? She fought for the wedding she said in another tape. It rather makes you wonder. If he was beating her before, to fight for a wedding, when she was already creating a dossier, makes a calculated scenario FAR more likely to me. That way she could divorce well right? She'd always had the resources to leave. Not like most victims who either lack resources or are terrified into staying. I really have a hard time believing she stayed out of love. It just doesn't ring true if her claims of abuse are true. If they are not true, the calculation is even more likely. He said he was done, she gathered her arsenal, tried the dvro and then tried to reconcile. Failing at that she USED that arsenal. When all you want it OUT you will chew off your own arm or leg, whatever it takes. You go. No need for the rest of all this. As to "lending" a voice to the cultural conversation going on at the time, that could have been accomplished as an ally without her claiming a darn thing. Simply use the platform of the star status. All would have stood behind that. JD would have stood behind it. This was all so needless.

Amber is like those girls in high school who constantly talk about how much they hate having female friends because it always brings drama, not realizing they are the source of all the drama. The fact that Johnny is basically like I'm done with this, I've spoken my truth and is basically staying silent while Amber continues to try and goad him into suing her again speaks volumes.
