These last two new songs that Connor has written are absolutely incredible, reminiscent of the Raw pain that made the early Bright eyes works so powerful. Connor has had one hell of a return to creative genius these last few years starting with Upside down mountain, he’s always been good but his last few records sound like he’s finally figured out how to make amazing music as he approaches middle age, something a lot of very young talented people never quite figure out as they get older.

I'll pick you up, just tell me when you land It's raining in LA, and everyone's gone mad I'd love to take you to the desert But you hate making plans I'll pick you up, just tell me when you land Now all my songs, they're sounding outta tune The oceans just a trinket, a gift from me to you I want to sing your praises Cause you been feeling blue But all my songs are sounding out of tune You're a drag queens dress You're a plastic knife You're pretty dangerous and so untrue No its all been said, a couple million times But why'd you make me fall in love with you The last time I dropped you off at LAX I kissed you on the forehead, I wished you all the best I realized you never stayed put, the last time you left The last time I dropped you off at LAX But if you want to come back in the spring We could go to the movies, we could do anything It's all within reason, it's all been in my dreams If you want to come back in the spring You're a toy I like You're a traffic light You're the thing I stop and go for when I move Yea I never know, if it's wrong or right But why'd you make me fall in love with you Yea I never know, if it's wrong or right Or why you made me fall in love with you

If you listen to the demo version of this, you can actually pretty clearly hear he says "When I move." It sounds like he's building off the tragic light analogy and says "You're the thing I stop or go for when I move."

I really hope he keeps it stripped down like this on the album version, or at least as minimalistic as Lime Tree off of Cassadaga or Spring Cleaning off of his split album with Neva Dinova

Here's how I feel, I think that when Conor was in his early years he was searching for someone to listen and had something so say, which is why his earlier songs are so beautiful. But now, because he's made his money from being sad and singing sad songs, he's stuck. And I feel sorry for him because he knows no other way. I don't really care if anyone reads this but whoever does, just know that it's alright to feel happy. We all have teenage angst, you're not alone. Just don't let it consume your whole life. Money just isn't worth it.
