The flow of the ancient Chinese violin🪕/erhu 🎻, drums 🥁 plus base is crazy insane not to mention footwork, body balance, visuals etc. Lay is a genius. 🫰💐

In Lay's "Veil" MV, I think the silver tiles we see are silver Mahjong tiles. Which is a game that is made up of tiles a little like dominos. Lay's just happen to be extra fancy silver to show his status, etc. On one tile you see the Chinese character for East, which is his previous album that "Flying Apsaras" is on, and another was the Chinese character for West, which is his current album title. On one of Lay's first solo albums Sheep, he has a song called "Mask" and it's all about striving to keep on the right path and to accomplish his goals even in the face of adversity, as he struggles to be accepted and understood. It's about not letting others influence your choices when you know the direction you are headed is right and to believe in yourself, etc. So an alternate message in "Veil" could be that he is now taking the mask off and he no longer has to hide who he really is because he has accomplished some of his goals and he is learning what path he needs to take in order to find the success that he is looking for, etc. Or he is telling others that they should be brave enough to take the mask off, etc. Check out this clip of Lay on the survival reality competition show Idol Producer, where he explains to a group of trainees the meaning behind "Mask," kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bLV_nNarstPWfmQ.html. Lay has also posted two dance practice videos for "Veil". You are in for a treat when you check them out. The MV was the English version of the song, however, in his first "dance practice"/performance video you can hear the Chinese version of the song. Lay has branded his style of music as M-Pop, which he says stands for mixed-pop, meaning that he combines traditional Chinese sounds and instruments, like you hear in this song, with modern hip-hop and pop beats and styles, to create a style all his own. And he showcases traditional forms of dance by combining them with modern dances in order to bring Chinese/Asian/Eastern culture to the world in a new way. As with everything Lay does, this whole song, MV and choreography was created by him. Once again, he wrote and composed and produced this song and the whole album himself, including the English lyrics. He even created the beats himself. And he also helped choreograph and direct the MV, etc. When it comes to Lay's solo work he pretty much does it all himself. He has a hand in all aspects of his solo projects. And that is why he is known as China's national producer.

Love your interpretation about this MV! If you are still not familiar about Lay, he is a very multitalented and hardworking person. This is a nice surprise. I didn't know Lay was yet on your radar but I am so happy he is. I've gotten to know that you like the darker concepts in kpop and I would certainly encourage you to check out more of Lay's work bc of that. There's a quiet brilliance in a lot of what Lay puts out. East and West are the 2 Chinese characters transforming from the start to the end on the Majong Dice - which you well spotted!

Actually when i react this on myself, i see or feel in this flow of video is same as like to exo obsession Don't be misunderstand to me huh... This is just opinion, we know exo-l, lay zhang is still part of exo, even he end contract to sm But u not see the concept to him mv, even he wearing chains face (like to baekhyun in exo obsession mv) And i feel he continue use concept what he use in exo, for example the red dark background (symbol for the enemy force, the redforce) same as like u said he was have a dark color in hes background (i feel it and i see he is use that concept, even he not show he is ability concept power in exo) This is just my opinion, for u, or those exo-ls fan, what u think about it that? (let's say on point, u said that he was have means about to lay zhang mv, and feel it to, i think this is will be a storyline, yeah there is have, but other side, for me huh...
