The Ordinary will put a regimen together for you. Just tell them what you use, or which of their products you want to use, and they'll help you out. The website will also point out what you should never combine, such as retinoids and direct acids. Again, asking them to put something together will help you out with this.

This was very informative on the chemistry side of things. The title is a little misleading because I think people were expecting which exact serum to use first . For instance "buffet" before the "niacinamide" or the other way around. Can you do the toner with the retinol or should you wait...That was highly confusing when I started with The Ordinary. You've done a few videos about which products you layer together before and I think people (including me if I'm completely honest), people just want a step by step. Use this, then this, then this and you're done. I've done a bunch of research on the layering part and it is still confusing to me sometimes and I get unsure and scared that I do more damage than good. It's a process. You already helped tremendously and I'm so thankful for that! All that aside, I did like how you explained more of the chemistry side of things. Thank you. =)

I don't get how some people didn't get the information in this video. It's science but it's not rocket science... This is a really great video! In order 👏 from lightest 👏 to thickest. From most watery to least watery. These products are penetrating your skin, you can't apply a moisturizer and then expect your toner to still soak in on top of it. Let the product soak in and dry for a few moments, then apply the next one. Facial oils and moisturizers seal all of it in, and primer separates your skincare from your makeup.

reem soud hey gorgeous great question! That’s correct, in general, niacinamide and vitamin C can be used together with no problem or concerns that it will turn into niacin. The ordinary does however directly state on their website that these are two products that should not be mixed. Because following manufacturers directions is always important, and the brand knows their products best, that is why for this brand, in this case, these two products should not be mixed together. Apologies for the confusion and I hope this clears things up!!

Diana M the buffet is a peptide serum. It’s light and can be used both night and day. You should first remove your makeup, cleanse, then put on your serum. Depending on what other serums or skincare you use, the order would have to do with the consistency of each product. So lighter serums first, then heavier serums, then moisturizers or lotions, then eye cream. Avoid products with vitamin C when using the buffet.

I have to admit, the charts you include throughout several of your videos are absolutely fantastic. They are so aesthetically pleasing, modern and organized; which makes them very easy to follow and understand. Most skincare charts found online, such as ph scales, or images of the various levels of the skin are so dense and mushed together, that they make it harder to dissect the information thats trying to be illustrated. I'm unaware if you create these charts or images yourself, but either way they are the best on the internet that I've come across thus far.

If you put an oil over sunscreen, you have high chances of removing the sunscreen as if with makeup remover. And generally the sunscreen should go over previous skincare steps as it sits on the skin and creams, oils, actives etc. should be more or less absorbed by the skin. Well, at least according to my logic, this sound legit 😅

I use an anhydrous Vitamin C serum and a hyaluronic acid serum in my morning routine. You recommended putting water based solutions on before anhydrous, but I’ve also heard that skincare should be applied from low pH to high pH, which would mean putting on the anhydrous Vitamin C first. Which one should I apply first, or should I even be using these together? (Specific products are the Ethylated Ascorbic Acid from The Ordinary, and the Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid from Hylamide)

Hey Cassandra, i'm very obsessed with your videos. I'm Italian so I'm sorry about my English. I bought vitamin C Suspension 23% but I have a doubt: do I have to use vitamin C first, that is a suspension, or my Neutrogena water gel cream? Thank you for your knowledge and regards from Italy 😊

I just bought some The Ordinary products so this video helps. They're expensive in Canada but I decided to treat myself. Now if they can only come out with a product for the neck. The horizontal lines bother me but nothing compared to the little turkey gobble that has begun to make an appearance. Sigh...

kris kom Yes, so sorry, you’re right❗️thank you + There are plenty of different serums with HA + Vitamin C on the market they are really effective for anti-aging purposes...Apply your HA first for moisturizing,then your vitamin C for brightening the complexion. However if that’s not your case vitamin C works the best with Ferulic acid and vitamin E 🌼

@@soniaxo9322 i don't use vitamin C anyway cause i have already a lot of actives in my routine :/ so many things you have to think before you put it together 😨😨 I want to use glycolic acid (toner) but i don't know what to put after 🤦🤦🤦
@soniaxo9322
@soniaxo9322 4 жыл бұрын
kris kom glycolic acid is one of the gentlest acids however it’s an ACID 😅 and if you have sensitive skin don’t use products with AHA concentration higher then 4%❗️After using your toner using some simple moisturizer would be fine+do not forget your sunscreen. But if you have already a lot of actives in your routine you probably don’t need any more of them.. because for sure you don’t want to destroy your natural skin barrier with too much chemicals. *Gotta remove the first comment so it doesn’t confuse others 😅

exactly, she is taking the wrong approach. we are just drivers, we don't need to know how certain parts of the car work. Just tell us what category the products fall into or atleast give us an example of how to layer the products. sorry to say, but that is why her views to subscriber ratio is so low. the videos are overwhelming.

😭 now I am confused. So that means oils before emulsions. But in the ordinary website their advice for a night routine is: 1. Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion 2. Rosehip oil. I thought I was doing that right and now....🤔 But the order is very helpful, so: Thank you! ♥️

it depends how you wanna use it ! normally, oil helps trap the active ingredients in your skin. that may be why there are advising this at night, so you sleep with a "barrier" on :) hope this helps
