I absolutely agree. I try to answer all the questions I wondered when learning. Hans ALWAYS wants to play fetch lol.. when I'm at my desk... making... exercising... in the bath.. 😝

I can’t thank you enough for your channel! My partners not the type to do something like this himself so I said I’d give it a go. My dad at one time would have done it for me, but he’s in poor health now so it’s time for me to take care of things myself. Very inspirational.

Sorry to hear about your Dad! Sometimes knowing they're not near by to help, yet you've seen the quality of their work or determination in the past can be inspirational enough. I bet he's going to be proud of you as well :D My fiance would rather pay someone to do it, but I wouldn't have learnt anything otherwise and it was peaceful doing most of it on my own haha! I must say, I really admire your work ethic, knowledge and attention to detail. I have learned a lot from watching your videos and they are so informative and explained clearly. Me and my fiancé are renovating our house on next to no budget so seeing you achieve these results gives us loads of confidence to get out into the garden and get cracking this year!

Young Lady, You are on Your way. I have always treasured the times my daughter helped me but she is now gone but You are on Your way. I have a small enough job now but am old and do not hurry any more. A Perfectionist like You would give me tips and tell me when I am wrong. I would take it on board but than just say "it will do me". You are fine! I respect You!

You did an "amazing" job explaining and executing the patio. Better than most videos I've seen. I really like the large wood beams you laid down. The blending of a hardscape patio and the texture of the wood really sets the tone on your backyard. Time for a hammock!! 😀 Absolutely LOVE the #HansCam 🐶

Great work again - I've done all sorts to most of the properties I've owned, but I also temporarily added a table and chairs to make sure they fitted before I started laying slabs (I used 60 x 60 slabs and if you use shorter its a good tip to imagine what its going to be used in the space first) - great video again and good luck with you Blog Award

Reminds me of younger days before spine injury, loved doing large renovation jobs, proper planning was crucial, seen so many dive in blind & fail early leaving half finished jobs

@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK Well Vickie, 3 years on (no sense in rushing things 🙄🤦‍♂️😊) we've finally relaid our cheapo budget shingle patio with natural stone slabs following your inspirational tutorial vid. In the process we've saved over £700 in labour fees from a builder. It did take us longer to put down than he would've taken but we enjoyed ourselves and felt a great sense of achievement. Thanks for leading the way. X

I found what you have done inspirational and a driver for me to get on with laying my patio slabs I bought 3-years ago. The biggest headache for me was the planning around ordering material and the quantity. Your video breaks the job down into a number of tasks and none are really to big for one person. Just need to eat well to keep the energy up. I plan to start and finish this Easter weekend. Thanks for the motivation 👍😃

Thank you :) With the sand method, if you make a mistake, you can redo it. With a bed of mortar, you don't have loads of time before it sets (and you must wear protection as it burns the skin).

Job well done, a tip though if you do have uneven cut slabs the dot and dab method is just as easy, simply mix sand and cement put a trowel full of the mix in each corner where you would lay your salad and one in the middle and tap to desired height plus no screeding is required

Nice job. A lot of people use a 3-4-5 triangle method to square large areas. Any combination of 3 and 4 units of length on the corner legs will have a diagonal of 5 units when square. You can even do it with a 1 unit stick and no measuring tape.
