I bought the dewalt pair (think they only do one example of each) and they're brilliant and lower cost than other battery operated ones, defo recommend. Both have their uses so if you can pick up both and buy together to save money, I'd recommend it!

Hey Adam, I've done another vid where I do laminate floor in some detail and would recommend 12mm if you can afford it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jdVxddtm1MjWiI0.html. Yes, I did the same with ethernet cable to this room in a previous vid: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZtkbKmLmZyXiKc.html. I just hid it in the underlay of the carpet. The problem with going with laminate is that the underlay is thinner so it probably won't fit in, even if you cut out a space so when I came to do the floor insulation and took off the floor boards I relocated my cable under the joists, which is probably your best option. However you may get away with tucking it under your skirting so first job is to pull up the carpet along the route the tv cable can go and see if there is a gap to hide it in. Alternatively if you are taking off your skirting, the gap around the underlay AND laminate will provide a good space to run it in. If like me in this video, you leave the skirting in place and use trim then you can't. Anyway, that's some options for you my man.

Interesting trick, I would have thought the tape would be visible even if running a utility knife along the trim/skirting but good to know. Yeh the nailer is fantastic, I think everyone has their preference - I can't be faffing around with gas and cleaning out guns personally but I'm not a tool geek - I'm more interested in the project so whatever tool is easiest and causes me least grief is my preference. Others like to tinker! If you check out my third vid in my fencing vid I use a gas paslode, didn't enjoy it, though it was a probably down to being a crappy rental.

Oh no! I wonder what could be in it to do that. I didn't have any reaction fortunately but it's good to be aware of. Ha, sometimes when I'm DIYing, I can obsess over a little thing that I probably won't notice in the long run but gaps around flooring would probably haunt me!

you know, I thought about that but how do you get the last row underneath? It would have to be flush with the edge of the skirting so if the laminate shrinks there'd be a gap right? I suppose you could just take off skirting on one side only.

@@AliDymock you prep the plank by removing the rebate of the groove. You then can place it under the skirt, and slide it back into the other laid floor peice with some wood glue. Most manufacturers describe this as option "B" or other method where you need to do this modification to the T+G to enable planks to slide without the click element. Which can happen in some circumstances. You were lucky that starting with a full plank left you finishing with a good size cut width. Always measure so you don't end up with a silther!
