Thank you, forever, for the things you've done... Nothing could be better, than to say it... Thank you, forever, for the things we are... Nothing is so easy as they say it is... So, thank you my brother for the things you've done... Knowing you'll never walk away like I did, you know... Thank you, forever, for the things we are... Noone can see inside of me like you do... Thank you, for the hours in the orange sky. Brother, you will always be a part of me... And thank you for the courage, when I go too far... Knowing you'll never walk away, like I did... You know... Thank you, forever, for the things we are... No one can see inside of me like you do... So thank you, for the hours in the orange sky. Brother, you will always be a part of me... And thank you for the courage, when I go too far... Knowing you'll never walk away, like I did... You know...

I'm not even such a huge fan of Röyksopp, but damn that song hit me hard at the end of the album. Almost cried like a bitch.

"Knowing you'll never walk away, like I did" - does anyone know what is meant by this?
@michaelweber67704 жыл бұрын
As far as I understand, the song is about a profound friendship/relationship. The lyrics tell from the perspective of the partner who somehow has neglected the friendship by "walking away". However, that person comes back refined, and finds his faithful partner still being there. The lyrics express the person's regret for his neglect and his deep gratitude for the loyality of his partner. Especially the line you quoted, reveals the firmness of the other partner's unshakeable faith in this friendship ´"(I have always been) knowing you'll never walk away, like I did"

@@michaelweber6770 Well, this is the last song of their last album. I'm pretty sure there is some kind of dual narrative going on in the lyrics, which could be addressed from the group to the listener/fans, and/or from one member to the other. "Walking away" could then be interpreted as the duo stopping making music in conventional formats, knowing their art will carry on thanks to the public/fans, hence the gratitude. In a more straightforward interpretation, it could also be a letter from Svein to Torbjørnor or the other way around, thanking the other one for all these years as a duo, that inextricably came to "An Inevitable End". That scenario implies that the decision to stop wasn't mutual but came from one member of the duo, who "walked away".

for me it feels like funeral song.... hits me really hard, I love my brother and I feel I can relate Like the brother was always here to help, guide, stop when you go too far, but the other brother who sings was surfing on life`s adventures without recognizing the other brother and all that love and care he shared. And now after brother is gone he recognizes the greatest lost he ever had and says "Thank you" , but understands that time cannot go back and he should not walk away and share his love as well... Maybe I'm wrong ... but holy shit this song crushes my feeling into oblivion, hope he can live as long as it is possible.

I have interpreted this whole song as a final message, a suicide note.
