I've noticed over the last 6 or so years, how much more dazzling and sometimes blinding modern car lights are! I feel sometimes people just don't realise that these new headlight designs and a lot modern new cars' headlights are made a bit higher up the vehicle, and as long as they can see, very little regard is given to oncoming traffic. The one thing that I have come to realise is some are fitted with this auto dip beam, where a sensor somewhere on the vehicle is left to sense an oncoming vehicle or headlights, then dip its beam to normal from full brightness. This usually takes a second or two for the car so "see" it, then react. Whereas a real person can see headlights lighting up roadside bits or trees or Bush and, as I do can dip my lights before they strike apon the oncoming vehicle.... A sensor can only react when it has already blinded the hell out of me already. Then some bulbs they use, wow, even when I've noticed their headlights have finally dipped after dazzling me, for the rest of the approach towards then past me, its very sharp and for a while all I really can look at is the opposite verge or line. This is the type of bulb and also how high up I've noticed modern car designs have made their lights. Not to mention the blinding you get when one travels behind you! Have people not realised yet that most cars on the roads nowadays, have a scroll switch or dial to adjust your headlamps to be able to shine lower onto the tarmac?! If your headlights are lighting up the back window of the car up front of you, your headlights are set way too high and you should please dial them down again until they light up only up to the tailights. So if you've been fiddling with a dailer or scroll switch and have not noticed it do anything... Chances are do it again at night and see if it adjusts your headlamps. Most cars also have one to set brightness on the dash lights so don't confuse the two. And I know there will be people out there asking so how the hell do you expect me to see then, I ride in pitch dark and if I dip my lights before I see you my line of sight to see is reduced too much...... We'll I'd reckon the chances are you are driving way too fast at night and should slow down, as this is a tail tale sign you may be going to fast at night.
