A lot of that can be blamed on covid . most of the East Europeans I know would have stayed a couple of years after brexit. They didn't want to be here during the lockdowns.

They didn’t feel unwelcome. They were eligible to apply for settled status. They left during covid to be with their families.

But one unideological fact would be: last year more people immigrated into this country than in the entire decade of the 90s. However AI plus ever increasing amounts of automation and the movement of jobs abroad will surely make it difficult to provide jobs for all that need them - including the immigrants we currently need. We have a lot of people struggling either on poverty wages or no wages who need a future (yes James - I do actually interact with such people). A balanced strategy needs to be enacted to manage the way forwards.

Unfortunately it's still regarded as kind of on the sides, it's on radio and edgy. Even the right wing presenters have slowly opened their eyes and started talking back - however ultimately it isn't TV and is still a minority opinion.

That’s ok, it’s still a platform where your average citizen can listen to level headed conversations on a topic. Radio here often has people calling in, saying their peace and it’s left there which lends itself to sensationalist getting the spotlight. It would be nice to have a show that genuinely pokes holes and interrogated the views of both sides even if it’s fringe.
