It's the fact that he's moderating these discussions, he doesn't even try to be unbiased. I'm fine with them having a variety of political positions on for regular shows but panels like this should have someone who isn't a known Tory stooge.

Political parties work towards winning seats with the knowledge thatbwe operate a FPTP system. They target their policies and campaigning towards that. If we had a different system parties would campaign accordingly.
@mrdaveythebaby
@mrdaveythebaby 13 күн бұрын
Interpreting the voting outcome of the FPTP system using the metrics of a proportional voting system is just childishly naive. Every intelligent party focusses their campaigning on seats they can win, hence that is the vote ls they win. Any votes won anywhere else are incidental...

It will be interesting to see if Nigel Farage stands the course. What was telling, his maiden speech to his Clacton constituents, he promised to stand with the local community. He then headed to a London resturant to celebrate! Is this a foreshadow of things to come? Like the out going Conservative Party, he will make all the right noises, but deliver very little….

People tactical vote to send a message but if that changed we'd just vote differently and those who got seats now better not count their chickens before they hatched.

I live in Australia where there is compulsory voting. I was unsure about it when I first arrived.. But having seen it in action I am a fan! It gets everyone engaged because we all have a say. Even high school kids are involved and take an interest because they know they will eventually have to vote! They say can’t complain even when the party voted for didn’t get elctedcbecause everyone had a say and that’s DEMOCRACY! If you feel very strongly about not voting and choose not to then you will be fined a token amount. But if you have a plausible and true reason for not voting this will be waived. We have PR system which also gives a much fairer representation. So sorry Christine Jardine you are dead wrong on this one. And you shouldn’t be too complacent and cocky because Reform actually got almost a million more votes than your party! And that can changed very quickly!
@reverendbarker650

You DON'T have to vote, you have to attend the polling booth , get your name ticked off, no one will check to see if you voted. Of course it seems futile to do so, but a lot of people just do a donkey vote, not realising that they do not need to do so.

IMMIGRATION ISN'T A PROBLEM. The reason why we have issues is the fact that nobody was doing their job. Get professional and competent people in to do the roles they need to do. We need the structure back in the NHS and we need a stronger standing globally and show that democracy can't be bought.

True. There’s a left leaning journalist/author and a middle of the road Scottish MP on one side of the table. Then there’s a right leaning journalist and a right leaning Conservative MP and a right leaning presenter who’s a failed Conservative candidate all together on the other side. It all looks a bit lopsided here - 3 V 1 and another 1 thrown in to try to make it look half alright 😂 Failed Tories clinging onto each other for comfort.

He was the chief of staff of the leadership Tory candidate team for David Davis. I was on the other team, with David Cameron. I’m sorry but the spectator bloke has been going around every studio in the land since the election making coming up with new numbers each time as to how labour didn’t really win the election. Not a labour voter but he really needs to pull the other one. He makes the case for FPTP in one breath and then in the next is using vote share as a crux to beat labour. FPTP is about winning seats, not votes.
