Having a mother raised on Hayling Island with a sister (my Aunt) and family still living in Havant meant that the Terriers had been familiar and very special to me from a very early age. So, what a treat to have 32678 ‘Knowle’ visit the closest preserved line to me for their Gala. A trip to the Avon Valley Railway on Saturday November 10th provided the footage for this Video all recorded around Bitton Station..
First we witness the arrival of the 09:35 Avon Riverside-Bitton, then the departure of the 09:52 Bitton-Oldland Common and the arrival and departure of the return 10:12 Oldland Common-Avon Riverside. We then have the 10:44 Avon Riverside-Bitton arriving in a heavy shower followed by yo-yoing Freights starting with the 11:20 Bitton-Oldland Common departing, then its return as the 11:35 Oldland Common-Avon Riverside and back again as the 12:12 Avon Riverside-Oldland Common. This last freight passes to reveal the other visitor at the Gala, LSW '0298' 2-4-0WT 30587 which will feature in a future Video
