I thought we would see a bigger duplexer .. wasn’t expecting the mini duplexer .

You guys could really benefit from a stand-alone 450-470 antenna and LOW loss feedline! Thanks for the great videos.

I couldn't find a part 95 certified repeater on the bridgecom site anywhere. Where are you getting this information. They all say part 90 only and specifically say they are not certified for GMRS.

I am missing the part 1.5 where the repeater, or repeater controller is programmed. ( I like the use of Anderson Power Poles)

Another great video! Looking forward to the other's on GMRS. Do you have any pictures on how the inside of a Bridgecomm Repeater is laid out? I cannot find any, even at Bridgecomm.

They have several items on the inside, two mobile radios, controller, LCD logic board, duplexer and a power supply. We'll highlight all of these items when we build our own GMRS repeater for the Abandoned Repeater Site!

Great video! Thanks for sharing so many useful tips. I have one quick question.... What's the difference between the duplexer like you are using (CF-4160) verses the very large duplexers seen at some repeater sites, that look like canisters the size of fire hydrants?
@LCARAHAMRadio
@LCARAHAMRadio 3 жыл бұрын
@RepoMan550 - The "duplexer" used in the video is really a frequency splitter, not a duplexer in the traditional sense. Comet calls it a duplexer. The actual "can" based duplexers are used for signal rejection among other things and depending on the frequencies being used on the repeater, quite large.

The small one is a wider filter allowing uhf and vhf to be seprated from each other. The larger ones are set up to separate specific frequencies within the same band.

I see the Arcom RC210 Controller just under the Bridgecom Repeater, but I don't see you installing it at your Repeater location into the Server Rack.......Did you use the RC210 for your GMRS Repeater, Thanks Much...Mike

The last release I read said it will be at the earliest January 2022 before the new fees take affect due to they have to go through Congress before they can update the system. And we all know how fast Congress moves on things. ‘73

You said only one family member needs a GMRS license which is correct but I want to see in the rules where it states that person has to be present. I have used and been licensed on GMRS for 20yrs and have read all of the rules and nowhere does it say this nor does it even say you have to be in the same household.
@ItsEverythingElse

Of course the person doesn't have to be present. That would defeat the whole purpose of family licensing.

@Brad Kellison - Thanks for watching! As of FCC Rule 20-184, personal licenses including Amateur Radio and GMRS are now $35. This rule was released on December 29th, 2020. These new fees have not been put into affect as of yet, but will be adopted soon.

During the video I was wondering about the 'duplexer' which allows a repeater to use one antenna for the repeater output and input. But then I realize that you must have purchased the repeater with the Bridgecom built in duplexer. I did cringe when the gentleman tightened the connectors using a pair of pliers. Tightening in that way is not recommended. You might over tighten and break something. It was hard to watch. 73 de N2LRB
