Great work and nice addition losing the 2nd wall outlet needed. I continue to use mine without using the Auto key and key it with the RCA jack plugged in.

Never had an issue with anyone using the RCA Jack. Its always the auto keyer that eventually will blow the mosfet. Some happen on the first key up and some a year later. The new protection circuit solves that. But simply using the jack is the way to go.

Great updates and will definitely help going forward with less potential problems from the relay, I'm sure operators will appreciate not needing 2 wall outlets anymore as well, Thanks for sharing. 73

love the up date. nice playing with relay delays. That the down side of MOS RF transistors. the gate . I had to go with different palate for my LD Mos build. I wanted 1.8 to 54 MHz . different transformers and less output . even got that filter bord with relays for each band. working on directional coupler for the out put. looking to make ALC feed back to radio like ICOM 7300 or FTDX-10 ETC that use it. also would like SWR protection . not that far in yet. I got same splitter/combiner you use on 2 pill units. turns out 1.8 to 54 Mhz. going to add relay delay to PTT only box. not going to hurt. nice job with that DC to DC converter. I find some of them make noise on receive radio. verities brand to brand. I always run them threw ferrite in and out. 73's

I actually had a few so called blown mosfets laying around all with exact same gate failure and I decided to test them a little more. The gate to source junction instead of being totally insulated now showed a resistance of about 450 ohms. (Probably a small hole in the metal oxide) but the main source to drain junction still was functioning properly and if you applied voltage to the gate you still had a linear response but now instead of forward trans-conductance it was more of a current gain since the gate now constantly leaked current to source. And all of the failures were identical. And i never saw a failure when amp was keys using external means.

Yes cmos chips are statically sensitive that's why you should use static straps,static bags,static mats etc it really depends on the chip some are more sensitive then others.

I thought those MOSFET's were super robust but I guess not. I couldn't find your website, can you please add it to the description?

Nothing is further from the truth though. They can handle high SWR as in 3:1 sure they can do that. But when you have a relay the arcs during key up it actually creates a high voltage spark. That high voltage then travels back to the mosfet and destroys it.
