This is just magic.... Both of them are amazing, regarding what they portray in terms of passion and technique...it's simply perfection :-)

For some reason, this my favourite interpretation of this ballet, by both Le Riche and Gillot. I guess it is because they match so well the characters (their actor's skills are simply amazing!) Thanks for the upload! I watch it very often. :)

Loved this ballet when I was a kid. The version in White Knights is what gave me the last push into dance.

Bravo ! @Ewaasia :Merci beaucoup pour la video :-)

I think it's a matter of taste;) I saw a few interpretations of that ballet and I must say that one is my favourite. Gillot is here absolutely genius and Le Riche as well. And I adore her for that role the most. Way in which they understood that history and interpreted it, is the best one for me. If it's going about chemistry.. well, we can see it here even more clearly than in other versions I think. But except it here's needed fright.. it's not only a woman - it's death at least;)

Merci Roland Petit.

just love the artistic beauty of his movement ..also think acting is perfect..he looks insanely confused/slightly schizophrenic/depressed yet dances with elegance, passion,perfection...Ive compared many interpretations and personally feel most moved by this one ..his interpretation also possibly prefer music interpretation ..hard to analyse ...its just a reaction

hey come on ...le riche is superb ...passion,depth of acting ...Baryshnikov technically perfect, Nureyev tech amazing &filled with energy passion ..its only Le Riche that seriously compares to them re technique,passion, and additional enigmatic depth/interpretations of characters ..loved his Ivan the terrible best most comparable to Mukamedov hes the non russian male dancer with such amazing technique and so much depth

I saw Ivan Vasiliev and Jia Zhang dance this at ENO - absolutely breathtaking, such an emotional performance that I couldn't stay for the rest of the production that night. The WONDERFUL Andrey Merkuriev of The Bolshoi has also danced this role - there is a version on KZfaq.

Has anyone out there ever seen the complete performance, live or on video, of Yulia Makhalina as Death? I know that she has performed it but I have been unable to track down the video.

As I said it's the matter of taste - any statment is always subjective so we can have different opinions on the same subject. By the way I am telling just about interpretations of Jeanmarie with Nureyev and Baryshnikov with Florence Faure. So I'm very courius where did you see Jeanmarie and Baryshnikov dancing "Le jeune homme et la mort" together? Maybe live?

For me Zizi is Jeanmaire is a personality who chose something else in her life from dancer , but with Noureev or with Mickael Denard in " Symphonie Fantastique " at Paris-opera in 1975 she is back for only evening just a ballerina she is ; very difficult for her to dance at Opera , just after the ballet with the considerable effort she made to do it , she had a serious tendon accident . Bravo for your courage Zizi Jeanmaire you have danced for an evening at the Paris Opera as " a Star " . For me " Le jeune et là mort " will always .be : Zizi Jeanmaire-Noureev

lavriccat2011 technique maybe but interpretation Nicolas le riche is better, and this ballet is about interpretation, Gillot is the icing on the cale, best duet of le jeune home et la mort, and i have seen many no one compares to those 2....

sorry hadn't really looked at female dancers tho I sadly noticed Darcy Bussell purely because I love her technique but disliked her in this role ...was mainly focused upon comparing the male dancers .

Absolutely beautiful. Bach is the greatest composer who has ever lived. If Europe continues to allow unfettered immigration, 600 years of European culture will eventually be destroyed.
@CreMoi
@CreMoi 6 жыл бұрын
No it won't. Our current culture will only be enriched by the diversity brought to our continent today (and yesterday, immigration is nothing new). Culture is in constant evolution. Its evolution has never and will never erase its past. It is a continuation of our heritage and what others have brought to it. Don't mistake a "culture" (in constant evolution) with an "era" (set in stone in a specific time frame).

eh its just they had more passion between them, the people that put on ballet productions today just focus too much on raw power, and technique, as opposed to pre 1990's when you could dance it and make it fit a bit more, not just machine dancing, that is they used bigger motion had more character in the production, they would do more mimming, if you will the only ones that still teach like that are the russians and a few american schools, not as much in mainland europe, well anymore anyway.
