I could never have enough of Christian Gerhaher, the best baritone in the world. His beautiful and elegant style turns anything he sings into gold. Undoubtedly, one of the best Counts Almaviva, beside Thomas Allen.

That soul reaching magic starts at 1:30. Not to be childish, but this was as good as the performance moment in Amadeus.

@@sefacavdar8126 Bach is my left brain, Mozart is my right. Bach hits the complexity and ticks almost every box my competence loving driven monkey brain needs ticking. Mozart, is my emotional processing and therapist in one. The beauty in the end of this scene is my biggest source of heartbreak at the moment but also the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard

Olga Kuchynska and Christian Gerhaher are two of my favourite classical singers and to see them in one production is amazing! Unfortunately, I don’t have the chance to see them live in Munich but thank you for the excerpts you upload 😍

1:35 Mozzart always gets me with how dramatically he goes into these melancholic parts...reaching way too deep...the emotion!!

Gerhaher is a phenomenal Almaviva. Also I may be biased (gay) but making Cherubino apparently flat out a lesbian is a strange but not unwelcome directing choice.

per le opere diciamo buffe (ok, buffe in quel senso artistico particolare, non sono solo comiche...) l'updating mi sta anche bene, per quelle drammatiche no. Non tanto per i costumi, quanto per le impostazioni sforzate che non rendono il senso della trama

Opera is not about having a good voice. I think everyone can be impressed with the opera because of the world view of the time when it was composed. Costumes have a lot to do with the world view. With the suits and modern dresses of those days, there is no fragment of the world view at the time of composition. The stage of the old opera was wonderful, but why did it become such a terrible production? Mozart will be disappointed in heaven.
