I've noticed the same thing ! Well, though you can find some rare buildings like that in Paris, it is likely a tribute to american films noirs by the director Jean-Pierre Melville. If you pay attention, you can see it's a painting, not a real building. The scene was shot in a studio, not a real appartment. Melville was fond of this american genre whether it was literature, movies or painting. For example, the fisrt scene of 'le cercle rouge" was a reference to edward Hopper's paintings : large empty places, big american cars. It's funny because the scene was shot in a city by the see where my family owns a vacation house. During the winter, the waterfront, built in the early 60's ,is actually almost uninhabited.
