From a game developer point of view I really don't understand why 1. this isn't explicitly documented in the have and 2. how the hell there's no damage and death log

Yeah, the death log we sort of have, it at least tells you the type of damage and skill/mob that killed your. Far more than most games give. The lack of Damage log or ability to calculate is rough though. They have said they are wanting to improve it and work on it though! Hopefully they add a lot more depth and ability to look at dps calculations.
