I totally get the communication thing! I'm the only string player that knows it the numbers well. Sometimes we'll change the key and I keep using the old chart. When someone asks me a question I might even forget our papers don't match especially if the keys are similar. He'll ask me if I played Em (vi) and I'm thinking ii.

Good video with good content. One small correction...the chord progression you are calling out G, C, D, Em is called 1, 4, 5, 6 minor in the Nashville Number System, not 1, 4, 5, 6. If you call out a 6 chord to a professional Nashville studio musician it will always be played as a basic Major chord. The concept of the 2, 3, and 6 chords being minor in the NNS is a common misconception brought about by music theory purists who don't really understand the NNS. In jazz and popular music the ii is typically played as a minor chord. And this is also correct if you dive into music theory...In a Major key the supertonic triad (ii) is minor...but not in the NNS.
