Special mention here for Zathba's appraisals. Unless I am mistaken it is the ONLY location to find certain sigils with wild power. If your good at dodging or spamming invuls glass cannon can be very useful, Berserker is extremely risky and niche, but the grand prize Zathba can have is War Elemental which will make it so you will have elemental advantage regardless of element.

It is quite good. It increases your dodge range which I use in conjunction with Imp dodge. Fellow "everything but war ele" haver here lol... Someday I'll find one

I liked getting the marginal damage increase from the ascension weapon because it has given me an actual grind item outside of just going through the ranks of difficulty. Made me feel like i was doing some real prep work before the terminus grind. Also glowy weapon pretty. Percy's "Lord of Flames, Exalted Reign" looks really really cool.

Been loving this game a lot. I like the wright stone and sigil mechanics a lot. Not to mention the gameplay when fighting enemies is extremely smooth and the way to build characters is more customizable than other games.

From a technical standpoint, supplement damage is still affected by damage cap, because it's based off how much damage was done. If you had to choose, assuming you're not maxed damage cap already, adding another damage cap is more effective than adding a supplement damage. Edit: stun is NOT situational. Stun is a mechanic every boss has. It's not needed, but more stun means faster link and also stagger, which comes into play for pulling bosses out of overdrive if you're not SBA skipping their overdrive. Whether or not it's what you want to build into is up to you.

Stun is not good. Yes every boss can be stunned, but it's very easy to quickly stun bosses just by hitting them without Stun traits/skills. After being stunned a boss can no longer be stunned until the cooldown wears off. At most you might save 1 second per Stun, if that.

About ascension weapon. Its still better to max out your main characters ascension weapon and awakening it just because there is no way in guaranteeing that you will get your mains terminus weapon asap when farming for it. so if you want to deal as much dmg as you can before getting terminus weapon you should max and awaken it as well as the Crit weapon. Sure u can just get someone to carry you through the grind, but its a much more smoother experience if you are at least well geared up for the mission to farm for terminus weapon.

Excellent guide, didn’t even know I needed this! Just clicked on the vid because I thought it was a levelling guide. But after watching I can see that character levels are pretty trivial in this game it’s more so about weapons and sigils 😅. That being said should I invest in one character at a time and should that character be a DPS? I’m on chapter 3 at the moment.

So for my own reference and if anyone else need it, the weapon stones counts fowards your sigil skills but the points from overmastery and catastrophy are extra ones, not the same. The new sigils from the raid update give you dmg cap and also another skill that stacks the with dmg cap. Let me know if there's anything else that can be confused if stacks or not and we'll added to this list xD

Just finished the main story, it was amazing. It felt like an anime. (I am new to Gran Blue Franchise), and thank you for the videos, I have been using everything you have talked about. Just unlocked Hard quests, so gonna be grinding that now. I gotta say, in another video you talked about "selective dodging" - dodging perfectly has been really challenging. Id be lucky if I pull it off twice... is there any tips for this? Should I be looking at animation or something?

I would say that it's better to get both Cascade and Cooldown because both have diminishing returns and benefits. Cooldown works when you're not hitting the boss, which can be somewhat frequently (especially on Melee), but Cascade (on fast attackers) will quicken the cooldown. War Elemental is also good on characters even if you do not get the weakness damage because it increases the Damage Cap beyond what is possible with just Damage Cap sigils.

I think Stunner weapon is better than Stinger weapon after trying both. Sure, you do less damage per attack, but you get Link time and such way more. Although I do play Katalina who attacks very fast so Stun is probably better on her than other characters.

Wanted to say this I've been playing for 5 days and I'm on proud proto bamamut rank up and I started farming for actual vigils through tickets doing the ship which is the farm before you unlock slimepede and I got a rainbow slime in between the 3rd wave of gold slimes just adding another source for farming gold slimes besides slimepede that's easier than slimepede

But how do you know if you actually have enough atk/ crit damage/ other bonuses etc to be fulfilling the damage cap? Early game i don't imagine we'll have enough bonuses to reach it so trying to get more damage cap could be wasteful at first no?

Is it just me or does the idea of having to build into "damage cap increase" seem kinda lame? I've not played a game where you were forced to spec into that and it's a tad frustrating. I love this game and this is only a minor gripe. But I'm genuinely curious if I'm trippin or if others are just as baffled as I am at this design choice.

I think the real issue is how high of a level you need to get it too. If it did the same thing with 2 less slots it would be a lot more tolerable. 65 points is nuts whe 15 is thw individual sigil cap. Having a damage cap in and of itself isnt so bad as ot prevemts the end game just being an omega DPS arms race where everhthing is getting bent over and theres no mechanical engagement anymore.

Hi, I'm probably on the older side for playing this game but I am very confused with the general functions and interface of the game. Like what does locking certain items serve ? What is wish listing, and just a bunch of other things. I don't think I am doing very well lol

Locking items makes sure you cant sell them to Sierokarte, really useful if you get a good sigil and dont want to accidentally sell it. Wish listing lets you track whenever you get the item in a drop, and also helps you know where you can get the item in mission select.

so i have only attack cap III+ so far and when i have slotted all in, i got a significant dmg increase. BUT regardless of that i still hit the dmg cap, since the dmg numbers show that "!", when i replace stuff like crit dmg, combo bonus, combo finisher, atk boost, skill dmg boost, i do less dmg. and i still hit the cap, according to the game. so cap just means you won't get the full benefit of dmg boosts, but still significantly more than if you would choose to use none of these? EDIT: i figured out, that apparently the "!" means crit (have initially seen other explanations to it in chats). also i noticed, just my normal attacks are actually dmg capped and i can still improve dmg from skills... man this game is confusing for no reason.

First time I hear that the crit weapon is the best weapon, that's interesting. Most people recommend the weak point weapon.

Personally i think the difference is negligible. The crit damage on the maxed crit weapon and a single c. Dmg sigil kinda brings you to cap quickly. The weak point weapon does the same, but you have that added stipulation of being behind or attacking a weak point. The higher raw attack means nothing at cap either. Id say its a difference of playstyle. Crit weapon obv beats out the others in ease of use.

Man I cant make it past Versa to rank up past Maniac because I only have 1 character that is setup with sigils and maxed out mastery and weapon so cant use AI and after like 10 tries with random players we lose every time with them dying 10+ times before Versa is even half HP. My main is Katalina so I even make them invincible for a lot of the hard mechanics but they just don't block ever and get hit by everything.

Yeah attack up over 30 is excessive. You will know the cap if your full combo doesn’t do more than 2-3% of their hp

FYI the ascension weapon gives you dmg cap and sigil bonus lvl when you awaken it. Definitely worth using.

The ascension weapon is better than crit weapon when maxed but is immediately replaced by terminus, which makes the farming to awaken it a suboptimal use of time. It also has HP instead of Crit Damage on its main stat.

Holy smokes, I thought I was crazy in thinking the Ascension weapons were overrated because everyone's like "There's no reason to use any other weapon" but to me, the level of investment seems so high for what it does compared to a stinger, stunner or executioner. Maybe if it were a sidegrade to the final weapon it could be worth it but I just don't see the value right now. I got War Elemental early, something kind of weird is that Exploiter still only works with actual elemental advantage. Was kind of a bummer to find out because I thought Executioner weapons would have reached cap with War Elemental out of the box.

@@Jay-Voorhees That's not what a JRPG is, or at least not traditionally. A JRPG is like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Trails of Series etc. This is an arena fighter masquerading as an RPG.

1:13 in and you already messed up. Sure you can use a crit weapon depending on your build but it is rarely even useful, higher your crit easier you will get to crit cap, more damage cap sigils you need, you will probably reach crit damage cap via sigils on its own. West to use weak point weapon for most characters, hitting from behind increased damage and there is no sort of cap to that. later proud you need to use awakened ascension. Also high DPS is not even needed...you dont HAVE TO build around high DPS, all that does is make the quests go faster....which isn't really the point of the game, this isn't an MMO. Only real DPS checks are bhamet and a few of the later proud quests. Apart from that you can build around what is best for the character or your playstyle.

@@jakeryan2805 Honestly there are only like 4 quests with an actual DPS check and most people online now know how to maximize the SBA and stagger SBA usage for max DPS. I am not saying dont maximize DPS, I am just saying its only needed in very few cases. Even then you want to have sustain over DPS. You aren't doing DPS while dead. In proud missions you need to have 2 damage resistance sigils on for that specific enemy. Bhamet for instance, the first proud quests, you want 2 darkflame sigils on, or you will constantly be blown up and die. there is a DPS check there too of course, so you will want damage cap sigils too, but you can have 15 loadouts per character. I have created a very basic loadout with each of the resistance sigils that I swap on these bosses and they help me survive them. Survival is more important in proud. Also he says not to use the ascension weapon, he doesn't know WTF, probably got carried online or only played with AI. You need the ascension weapon to reach the health level needed enough to survive the damage of the later proud quests. Its part of the progression. Proud end game progression is bhamet>tier V sigils>acension weapon fully awakened>later proud quests>tier V+ sigils>terminus>terminus fully awakened, then you are done and can min/max the build and wait for lucillius.

You're kind of midleading. I used weakpoint till 150 proto, but it still DOES suffer from damage cap. Also you don't need resistances. They're great to crutch if you don't understand attack patterns and constantly get hit, but after the 3rd or 4th time fighting the boss, you shouldn't need them after learning attack patterns. Just block or dodge. If you're constantly getting afflicted with status effects, you're taking too many hits you shouldn't be taking. If it's what you're going for though, I don't blame you since there's more than one way to play.
