Pro v Am is a good segment. I am sure the waiting list is long. Good show. It' s good a tip to change balls off a good throw with unfavorable reaction. Most of the time, it's just trying to find the correct shape into the pocket.

Hey Darren I love your videos and makes me always hype for league was curious to see if you had any suggestions for me, Ive been bowling league for almost a year now I believe my current average is 166 and was curious if you had any good bowling ball suggestions. Ive never bowled Storm or Roto grip, I've had an eye on a Storm IQ tour, Storm Summt Peak, Rotogrip Magic Gem and the Storm Vertual Energy just wanted to see if I could get a feed back on which you think is a better league ball or if there's one I cant go wrong with. was hoping you had a newer what you use video. I got into bowling for a few months in my early 20's got very into it and then quit completely lol. Got my avg around a 180 with a max at 233. Could usually throw one 200 a night

hey Darren, is there a reason you were changing balls for spares? Are your fits different for some balls? the zen gold and the journey are relatively similar, and you throw straight anyway, so i’m wondering if there’s some spare shooting secret you keep lol Great match up as always!

I throw a zen as my strike ball which is aggressive and then a phase 3 for spares thats not super aggressive and if needed i use my phase 3 as a strike ball

So he doesn't have to wait around on the ball return. He can make his spares with any ball, it doesn't matter

@@wingracer1614 haha you know, i should’ve figured it was something as simple as that. I just assumed he would have to switch thumbs every time, but he almost definitely has multiple of the same thumb for that exact reason

@@sourdoughprince Does he even use them? I haven't looked closely but I've never seen him swap one out that I can recall. It's kind of like I asked my PSO if I should go to them. He asked "are you happy with all the thumbs I've drilled for you so far?" Yes. I can drill and fit that thumb for you in 5 minutes. Why pay extra?

@@wingracer1614 all of his balls that he shows on instagram have vise IT sleeves, and once a vise rep asked him to twist his thumb in on TV, so he definitely has them. I wouldn’t think he would use slugs for some balls and IT for others, but i guess it’s possible edit: also not really related, but interchangeable thumbs are less about satisfaction with the slugs you have drilled, and more because when bowling several games, your thumb may swell and it helps to adjust your fit during play. your PSO can drill you a perfect thumb, but it won’t necessarily stop you from getting stuck at the line if your thumb gets bigger and the slug stays the same size. that’s just my opinion though, i personally swell more than average so i plan to invest in switch grips soon

I would have to say that there are a lot of league bowlers who are close to the pros, but the difference is the type of pattern. No not more oil/less oil, or longer/shorter, but the shape of the shot that is mostly played on it. League shots tend to be belly the ball to the right and shape it back in, where tournament shots tend to play more down lane to shape it in. It's a completely different way to play the ball and if you're not accustomed to seeing that particular shape, or haven't played on it before, it will make you look foolish. I've played a few tournaments, but I'm not a tournament bowler. In most cases it's a difference of something you've bowled on for years or decades versus months or a few years.

haha yeah, his adjustments and inability to hit spares have me wondering about this supposed 230 average. I know a lot of guys who ring for a couple leagues here and there, and have like 215 averages, but they tell everyone they bowl with they average 230 in another league. Probably one of those. A true 230 average isnt missing the pocket that often.

Challenge Pattern vs House. Darren even mentions what he's doing wrong with regard to his ball reading late. Physical game is nice and probably bails him out on House, but if you can't clearly see what your ball motion is and the necessary fix, it's gonna show.

@@johnathonmadison9518 all you really need to do is pay attention to how the ball continues through the pins, to see if your tilt is good enough. These kids these days love throwing too hard. Sometimes the fix is moving back instead of left, (for a righty) and slowing down like you mention.

it wasn't announced but he was there prior shooting a ball video.. i just got there 3 minutes before we hit record. i got 2 shots of practice to loosen up the shoulder, he was already warmed up while i didnt even get warmed up . i'm not saying excuses but thats the truth. also i dont roll too good at gold coast anymore, after i shot state record there, especially on challenge shot.
