That's s bummer but glad you got 2nd set sorted..in future David don't buy used lines find your nearest hydraulic supplier on a trading estate and take the leaky one to them they'll make one while you wait and it'll cost 10 or 15 quid..ive done it many times at two different hydraulic suppliers up here...also oil coolers...same take it to the nearest radiator supplier / fixer they'll make you a new cooler for 50 quid and it'll be way better than the original... Of course I have these people close by ...but they exist on most industrial estates.. Good job David, in the end ,bloody eBay it's a real lottery ...peace and love and (skal) of course..cheers buddy take care.👍☮❤

Aye, now that is great advice. Given it was the hard lines that had given up the ghost, I think it would have required new oil cooler as well, but no harm in that - at least everything would have been new. Will certainly consider that next time and see what there is local to where I work - gives the opportunity to be a bit more creative too! Hope you are keeping well brother. Skäl David

I'm well jealous you found second hand hoses in such good condition! They look almost brand new! All the Bandit ones I've ever seen have been coated in rust.
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 4 жыл бұрын
Which is why the first hoses I bought leaked. The trick is finding some that have only a little rust! Skäl David

That was a shame David, sometimes auction sites are great, but sometimes they let you down. I agree with Paul, plenty of Hydraulic pipe companies will build you a hose to fit, for only a few quid, I used one here in Reading for several hoses on my Winnebago, from the States, over a grand plus postage, from Pirtek in Reading, the whole lot £250, worth bearing in mind for next time mate. :)

Very true Chris. Next time I’m going to have to be a bit more adventurous in my modifications. Shouldn’t be leaving this bike stock, so slap on the wrist lol. Skäl. David

Thank you so very much again for your GSF1200 content. My bike may need this service as I have an oil leak and I am not sure of the source

Always put your lids back on the grease pots or at least move them away from the bike. When you started fitting the pipes with the open grease pots underneath you'd have dropped all sorts of rubbish into your grease contaminating it.

What a bugger! 😡 did you get a refund from eBay for the first set as not fit for purpose? Glad it’s sorted in the end.

Is it necessary to drain the oil if you’re just changing the pipes? Or will it just splirt out?
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 4 жыл бұрын
Oil cooler attaches to the bottom of the engine. If you don't drain it, it will mostly all drain anyway when you disconnect the cooler so better to do it properly.

Im on my second oil cooler too. My second (ebay) cooler just started leaking too so we have the same luck. Its leaking right where yours is too. Hoses are no longer available in the states new. I am thinking of removing the crimps and replacing the flex hose with braided stainless steel and simply hose clamp them on. Has anyone tried this? Also (completely different subject), in the states our Bandits are missing the lower triangular Aluminum engine mounts. We cant get them at a salvage yard either. Does anyone out there have any extra;s they can part with? Maybe we can trade for some perfect condition 4 piston brake calipers?

You can certainly just dump the existing cooler and lines and replace with a cooler of the appropriate size and braided lines - your local radiator shop should be able to source all of that for you, and if you really want to retain the stock cooler they can probably make up some compression fittings for you. I've noticed there are some odd differences with the frames - for example the online parts diagrams don't show the removeable frame section. There is a UK facebook group Everything Suzuki Bandit that has some guys breaking bikes, I'm sure someone will be willing to send you what you need

Thanks. I've upgraded my editing software since this video was made, but being partly deaf, sound levels are sometimes hit and miss. I bought a bike off Del because I'm able to form my own opinions based on real life evidence. If I formed my opinions based on what other people tell me I should think then perhaps I wouldn't have, and that would have been a mistake. One day I will sell it, but only because I need the room in the shed.

That's true enough..But I don't think I've formed my opinion from others sure they have pointed out issues that are easy to agree with considering what you are dealing with..all the same great content
