That is one thing I really appreciate about these Honda designs, they make them so that these individual parts are repairable with a simple O-ring and or gasket set. Take their power steering pumps, very expensive, and I am sure the dealerships love selling new ones. The kicker is, just about anyone with some basic hand tools can rebuild one for around $30 or $40, depending on the Honda dealer you purchase the O-rings, seal and bearing from.
@TheProtagonist_7775 ай бұрын
It's a shame they do not sell some of the gaskets, VCM gaskets for instance. You have to buy aftermarket gaskets.

Another update I torn the vtec solenoid pigtail got a new solenoid n respliced it. The car shifts nice as hell, I CAN FEEL THE VTEC AT 4500 rpms. I replaced multiple sensor, the whole cooling system, valve adjustment, timing belt kit, valve cover gaskets, new bosch plugs, cleaned carbon out of egr port, replaced egr valve, clean throttle body and manifold of carbon to the lower manifold ports. At 295k currently, I brought this AWD touring 2004 MDX back from the fucking dead. It fucking shifts like a new car, this car is amazing in the rain. I only drove brand new cars. This my first used car and Acura hit off the ball park with this car. I will save and buy the latest gen MDX

It’s common on these for the VTEC solenoid (i.e. pressure switch/spool valve) on the V6 to leak. Thank heavens it’s mostly an easy fix. But I wouldn’t replace the main gasket without the mesh filter.

GUNK "Engine Brite" or Simple Green are really good cleaners for the outside of the engine block to grt all the old oil grime off. Sprsy them on liberally, let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes to emulsify. Then blast the solvents off with a high pressure gargen hose or power washer.

So you're saying the 1hr job in doing the filter housing, should've have been a 9-hour maintenance prevention by doing the oil pump while I was in there? By that logic, I should've pulled the transmission and did the rear main seal also if I'm doing a axle seal... is this correct, please explain your logic here

Extremely bad valve cover leak or power steering hose leak will cause long standing smoke under the hood. Because of the location, typically you won't see smoking because it's away from the exhaust
