The Purple Tunnel People were stuck in the Purple Tunnel of Doom for hours and hours with the expectation that there would eventually be a Purple Gate where people with Purple Tickets would pass through to the Purple Section. Bummer.

@@lunasanti1946 yeah, there are a number of comments here about the power of music to bring people together, trying to make it apolitical, and like... I'm pretty sure at the time it was very specifically about the joy and wonder of having a Black President in a country that had ended the most brutal era of slavery humanity has ever seen a little over a century and half before (not to mention all the many forms of racism that ensued in the intervening years). It wasn't even really about Obama as a person, it was about all the possibility of that moment. A door opened that can never be closed again.

You know, in the news and media it's hard to believe that anything good comes from humans. But man if a large group of humans singing isn't one of the most beautiful things... Edit: This comment was about the beauty of a large group of people singing together, not about tyrannical governments. While denying that it can happen is bad, shoving it in people faces when they are trying to be happy is worse. I was wondering what the Purple People/Tunnel was all about. Thank you. In Cincinnati there is a Purple People Bridge that crosses the Ohio river. It was a bridge designated unsafe for the weight of vehicle traffic so it was repainted and designed for foot traffic only. The riverfront on both sides is very active and fun so it made perfect sense. So when I saw "Purple Tunnel" I thought hmmmmm. Thanks again for clearing my confusion. Merry Christmas to all.

This gives me nostalgia. In High school, I used to be in marching band, and one time at a band festival there was a bad storm that had rolled in half way through the day during the field shows. Everyone had to go below the stadium seats under the concrete structure, so there were probably 1,000 kids with some adults scattered around, all stuck together during a bad storm. Eventually, we all just started singing songs we all knew, and this video pretty much sums up wat it looked like. Easily my favorite childhood memory.

We did the exact same thing when I was in highschool 😂 I play saxophone and for some reason our saxophone section decided it was a good time to sing a bunch of songs that we had played on the bus while going to this competition. Then put low brass heard us and joined in and then some other random kids from 8 other bands joined in and then the rest of their bands had joined In and it was all just a lot of fun. It was about the same for us about 100-150 kids per band and parents included. The money i would pay to go back to those days. I just realized I’m really being a saxophone player by over explaining everything 🤣
