It never ceases to amaze me as to why 99.99% if operators have the mentality of “we have to get the bow line 1st.Just Amazes me.Almost no operators or passengers can toss a line.Even after years out on the water most cant land a boat.

That tide current is best handled like a river. Always keep your bow to the current, and gently bring the bow around the starboard side of those docks. It’ll settle right into place. Current at your stern is a nightmare.

Funny thing about that high tide................... most of these "captains" have the bumpers MUCH to high to be of any use.

You often sensibly suggest lowering the tailgate etc. but surely your vehicles are like those in the rest of the world these days fitted with reversing cameras? They might be an optional extra on some but it'd be a cheap way of making reversing relativity easy since you see where you're going with overlayed lines showing exactly where the vehicle is going and what's happening to any trailer. Similarly, they should have their maximum towing weight for both braked and unbraked trailers in the owner's handbook with the trucks likely having the info on the nameplate of the vehicle. At the very least, it'll be on the maker's website for the vehicle.

And do it while looking forward. But I've seen several do the opposite, not back far enough to re-set, works both ways. In the time I've spent there I learned that many people in that area have the notion that since they've lived near the ocean their whole lives they know how to boat, even when they're clueless. Many of them also think that having a marine radio is stupid, and many who's boats came with one don't know how to use it.

After a few attempts (of the "captain [?]) contemplating his navel... he changed & went to the port side. Where the fenders were mounted any way... after capn' originally had been trying to dock on the STARBOARD SIDE??? 😅
