REALLY enjoyed this video. I'm far from a beginning musician, but I'm a beginner on the three- string, and this is my first time playing slide. It's so fun to get these techniques that help me get a good sound out of my new instrument. I was pleased to discover that I can tune down my open-G Blues Box guitar to open E and it resonates well. Also, it's fun experimenting with lap slide instead of holding the guitar up against my body. Coming from fiddle, it's fun that this instrument is also unfretted, and I can use my ear instead of my eye to judge where the slide belongs. I've subscribed, and I hope you make more tutorials! Enjoying your music.

Hi again Susan...I replied to your previous comments without seeing that you have been checking out some of my other tutorials. It is interesting that you play the fiddle. I think that you will pick up playing the 3 string GBG very quickly then.. I do not play the fiddle...but I can see that there are many similariieis. Playing lap style does have a few advantages over playing in the conventional style. You can use a lot of different slides eg-I love tp play with a metal hip flask using the edges as a slide. This slide gives me a lot omore freedom to use the entire neck if I choose to...and I can get a lbi range of vibrato effects. I can also see the frets which make it easier to play...especially when playing fast. In the end tho...it is really up to the preference of the musician...because "there aint' no rules !" Cheers Gazza

I dropped by your channel for a look see. You give some great tutorials too. I really liked the one on how to play that Hill Country Blues style rhythm. You look to be using standard tuning. Can it also be played using open E tuning? or played on a 3 string CBG? Cheers Gazza :)

Thanks Darren for your positive feedback my friend. it is my pleasure to help other people get started with cigar box geetar...because it is a wonderful interest. it is quite easy to learn... but as a teacher...I know how some basic things can get overlooked when you are trying to get started...like tuning up etc. So it has been my goal to try and cover the things I needed to know when I started out. Your Paypal tipping idea is a very good one...and I will give it some thought. At the moment I am getting some good karma from my tutorials...so that is keeping me going. Cheers Gazza :)

Hi. It would be really helpful if we could have a clear view of the ‘action area’ - ie, The finger picking action at one end, and, at the same time, be able to see the slide action happening at the other end, all at the same time please, without moving the camera all around. 😊

I notice that you first place an extended finger on the strings before laying the slide down. The reason you do that is so you get a clean sound and you do not hear the slide hit the string. Is that correct? I just got my CB guitar and when I strum the strings and then just lay the slide down gently I hear noise from the slide touching the sting or strings. Any advice??? Thanks!
