I met her back in 2019 November after a NY Phil concert. She’s so gracious and kind. That Maggini is huge from far away and the case she has for it is crazy :O

The viola is one of the most amazing, gorgeous sounding instruments in the world. Powerful, melancholic, lower pitched than a violin, but they can sing, sing, sing in their higher scales. In fact I like their sound better than violins. They have more 'Body'. I played one in middle school. Sometimes think I should have kept at it? But I switched to Drumming and been doing that for 30 years. But again, love those tones. Some of my fave orchestral pieces are viola/cello concertos.

I'm just a trumpet player, but I always thought the sound of a viola has a mystery and gravity or solemnity.

You can play anything on violins and violas, these instruments are so versatile.

I love to watch Rebecca and Cynthia Phelps play. They make such a good team and put out such positive energy. You can really tell that they love what they do. I like these ladies so much that I made each pendants so I could give back to them what they've given to me, and to complete the circle so to speak. They bring me joy, and now hopefully I've brought them the same.

I'm a violinist but I'm pretty sure I want Rebecca as my teacher! She looks like so much fun! She could be a Suzuki teacher haha

I just started playing viola (I’m 14). I know that’s considered late to pick up a string instrument, but I’m really motivated to play, and I hope to become really accomplished someday. we don’t have an orchestra at our school (unfortunately😕).

What do you, Rebecca, and other violists, think of Brahms' writing for Viola parts (and featured or solos)?

Florian Heck they are in a little uncomfortable position, they are really close to the conducter unlike 1st violins , but we have to look at the conducter and at the same time look at our sheet music .....and that's how that look was born LOL
