Learn Boogie Woogie Piano in 7 Steps!

Жыл бұрынLearn how to play Boogie Woogie piano in 7 simple steps. I've tried to keep this Blues piano tutorial as quick and refined as possible, so beginners on piano may have to rewatch sections of the video as it moves fast in parts.
This video was inspired by a couple of other KZfaqrs, @thearthurmigliazza and @jayacoustics9150. They have done some amazing boogie woogie tutorials, but I wanted to my own version with a slightly simpler left hand. I often find that fast moving boogie woogie piano bass lines can be too challenging for many people just starting out, and they struggle with hand independence. Especially when they start adding the blues chords and blues piano licks in the right hand.
This piano lesson uses a simple boogie woogie bass that doesn't require you to play a swung rhythm in your left hand, with just 4 notes per bar. But it still sounds GREAT! And of course it uses a classic 12 Bar Blues progression.
The boogie woogie tutorial then build up methodically in 7 steps, making it easy to practice and improve your blues piano techniques.
By the end of the piano lesson you'll be able to play some impressive boogie woogie piano, and who knows maybe even sit down at a piano in a train station like @DrKBoogieWoogie does and start improvising!

I’m not sure how I stumbled across your KZfaq channel. I’m so happy I did! I’m currently taking your piano chords course and your ear training course. I have had a piano teacher for a year and half that I learn from a book with. We have touched on a couple blues patterns but they have been very simple from a lesson book and just a few measures long. This video has really made me like trying to play the blues and the offbeat rhythms it has. I have no background or knowledge of much blues music at all so this has been very hard, yet fun and challenging all at the same time!! Your courses have been great so far and I can’t wait to progress even more with your teachings! Thank you!!!

Hi Stephanie. Yes learning blues piano directly from notation can be very challenging, so the blues pieces tend to sound very simple. You can get to a place where you're playing good blues piano much quicker and easier using patterns, exercises and playing by ear. I'm glad you're enjoying the courses. Greetings! What woud be the proper fingering on tthe "chop" in C, to add the dominant 7 (Bb). I have be using My #2 (forefinger) on My left hand. Thank You

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Are you talking about adding a Bb into the left hand walking bass? Or by chop do you mean the syncopated rhythms in the right hand?

which keys you press down at: Cx4- Fx2- Cx2- Gx1 and so on. It's very hard to see. Otherwise it's good stuff in this tutorial. Thanks therefore
