Thank you so much for this information. I had joined a China painting class so many years ago (loved it!!) but moved to a different area, and was never able to connect with anyone in my new location. I have kept all of my supplies and really hope to be able to resurrect this awesome craft. I have subscribed to your channel and will be following you on Facebook. I taught traditional ceramic classes for years and feel very comfortable with the firing processes, and have done various painting techniques: watercolor,, oils, etc... to develop my painting skills, but still feel that this field has many layers of knowledge that you are providing great information and input. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have started painting a set of Rosenthal China, I know it is quite an undertaking but so far I have all the extra pieces painted as well as 4 place settings. I paint my roses very similar to you, but I have learned a lot from watching and rewatching your videos in the area of shading and softening the roses. I love your style. You are a great teacher! Holy cow Ann, your work is breathtaking!!! I collect old bits of broken china on the beach behind my house. There was an old dump there that was used for the town 100 years ago & I’m assuming there’s so much glads because there was no plastic back then. You wouldn’t believe the amount of glass & broken China I find! The great thing is with the tide every day, more & more & different things are exposed from the mud. I’ve been going down there for years & still find amazing bits! I’m hoping to someday find enough pieces of the same object to figure the patterns & reproduce them. Sorry for the ramble. But amazing job & I love your backstory! I hope you show some of your parents work someday!

Very interesting. I just inherited my great grandmother's china paints. I have a huge box full of powder paints that I don't know what to do with. I don't want to sell them because of how old they are. Along with small ornaments and pieces here and there that is what she used to practice on. I'm trying to do my homework before trying to work with them. I also inherited a kelm that my grandmother bought because she could.
@Paintnporcelain

Your great grandmother would be proud that you want to carry on the tradition. These videos will help you learn the painting techniques but you should find a local or state china painting chapter to help you with your kiln - they are all different. WOCP.com lists the teachers and organizations by state. Good luck!

I am so grateful I found your channel!! I began china painting one winter while we were staying in our RV at a resort in Mesa, AZ. The woman there would not let us mix paint, names of her supplies or anything. She supplied a small palette of paints on a tile in a plastic sandwich box. She had brushes, pens and her own porcelain items for group use. I wanted desperately to know what supplies to get, how to mix paint and basic necessities. You have made my day!! One question I have is can I buy porcelain plates at Walmart that they porcelain on the bottom and are glazed white? Do I have to buy from one of your suppliers? Again many, many thanks for your very detailed informative videos. I have subscribed and will be watching you.

Thanks for the terrific feedback. Glad this helped. I have gently used palettes available on mY website. As a beginner you might want to but a few pieces from one of the china companies just to see what the quality is like. You can’t use heavy china or “Corning ware”. The Walmart stuff looks okay but check it for little black inclusions or heavy symbols on back. Take all the price tags off. Good luck! I have weekly workshops at Facebook.com/PaintnPorcelain if you get Facebook every Wed at 10 am EDT.

Good vid. I am a potter and want to paint my own work. I am assuming any figurines etc that you are buying in bisque are slipcast lowfire whiteware with a firing temp of cone 05?. White finished glazed pieces either new or used could be anything from lowfire whiteware to cone 10, high fire porcelain; and anything in between? I can see myself working in something like Lagoona B Mix, a porcelanious stone ware. Any suggestions on your part?

Is it possible to use this "China Paint" along with a stencil to apply patterns to dinnerware for a special event I took ceramics in school but that was over 20 years ago and it was very basic?
@Paintnporcelain
@Paintnporcelain 6 ай бұрын
Funny you should ask. I was trying to stencil yesterday and it doesn't work but you can use "underlay" to create a raised stamp that you can then paint over to create a border, etc. See my video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbiGrKV3ucuUlKM.html. You can also put stickers on and paint over with china paint. However, the type of china paint I use must be fired in a kiln. If you use a kiln that is used for ceramics you need to clean out the dust first or it will ruin you project. Hope this helps.
